Publisher's summary

When Benton dreams, people die....

Every time Benton sleeps, he becomes a trapped passenger within a murderer’s skin: able to hear, see, and feel every part of their kill. When he wakes up, he knows it’s only a matter of time before his dreams become reality. No matter how hard he tries to stop the murders, it always ends the same way - with death.

After 10 years of constantly relocating, his parents have decided to settle in Fort Wayward. A quiet Albertan town where Benton could focus on graduating high school and living an idyllic teenage life. That is, until he finds a dead body in his backyard.

Benton’s hopes for normalcy come crashing down as something new begins stalking his dreams. Something that’s not human. And, for the first time, he’s not the only one watching.

As his dreams and reality collide, Benton finds himself facing a monster beyond his understanding. In his fight for survival, Benton soon discovers why death follows him, why monsters draw close, and why he always wakes up screaming.

Awesome Book, Great Listen

It took me a few attempts to get used to the Narrator's slow pace, after giving up and restarting a few times, I finally became used to his speech and pace. That's when I noticed Audible has a speed button & after cranking up the pace a bit (silly me) everything flowed at breakneck speed & I just couldn't get enough!

The Story was captivating when I read it, having issues with trying to find a stopping point to put it down, having the audible version? That was Awesome! Especially when I no longer had to stop to prep dinner, weed the garden, or even drive somewhere. I can't wait to read ... I mean listen to the next one!

NOTE: I now own the Entire Banshee Series Box Set, this way I can keep going from one to the next non-stop. ;-)

Good book

I enjoyed this book. It took me 3 days because I kept getting interrupted. Ending was predictable tho.

I love this series!

I just realized I never reviewed this book. It is a great start to a very enjoyable series... as long as you’re not afraid of what might be lurking in the night! The only thing about this book that hung me up a little was that it took me a while at the beginning to realize that Nicole is a teenager and not in her 20s or 30s. The beginning scene where she is trying to decide if she should knock on the door, in my mind’s eye I had been seeing an older woman. I’m glad that she is only a teen though because her and Benton’s dynamic is great. There is enough mystery surrounding Benton to keep you on your toes. I enjoy that the characters are really figuring out what is going on at the same time as you are, so that it is really a story unfolding instead of someone just telling you about it. Sara’s descriptions really get you lost in the story, you’re almost experiencing Benton’s frustration and resentment with him, and also Nicole’s positivity! A great listen and a definite recommendation!

Really enjoyed

I love this type of story. The mystical, mysterious, action, and gore. The performance was great. His mysterious voice was perfect.

A Tense Chilling Thriller

Great book, when Benton sleeps he then becomes a host for a murderer that he can see and feel every part of the kill. His parents always were relocating for over 10 years now they decided to settle down in Fort Wayward. Again, the dreams start. The storyline is compelling with believable and interesting characters. You have twists and turns with many tense moments. This book is amazing. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I think I found a deserted island book!

I’ve often wondered what book I’d take if stuck on a deserted island. I think I may have found it. Sara Clancy out does herself with this story. It draws you in and holds on tight. This book is one of her best!

Intriguing.

Benton hates sleeping because he nearly always dreams! His dreams are not normal though, he dreams of killers. He can hear and feel everything the murderer does. He also always knows who is going to be killed and his dreams always come true. He tries to warn the victims but they don't always believe him and neither do his parents. Forced to move from place to place because of the visions, they come to Fort Wayward in the hopes that things will be different, but things go from bad to worse and Benton is in for more than he bargained for.

This was such a great read. Once I started listening, I couldn't stop because so much happens and it was impossible to pause because I always wanted to see what happened next. It never let up!!

The plot was well developed and extremely creepy. I was thoroughly intrigued with Benton and his abilities. There isn't much given away about what he is till near the end, but it wasn't hard to guess either because of what the series is called. I can't wait to find out more about Benton in future books though!!!

I felt for Benton. He is going through so much but no one believes him. I just wanted to grab him and give him a hug. I was so glad when he met Nicole because she is someone he can trust. I loved seeing their friendship grow. Both of the characters were well written and developed and were easy to like, even if Nicole was too happy at times ;)

In all, this was a creepy, intense and fast page read. It's a short enough book, but it packs a lot into it so feels longer. I can't wait to see what book 2 brings.

Jake Urry is one of my favourite narrators. He has such a distinctive voice and one that can bring a horror novel, or any novel for that matter, alive. He has plenty of tones and voices for the characters and he is able to bring a story to life with his cadences and inflections. He read this brilliantly and I highly recommend you check him out.

I was given this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. This in no way affected nor influenced my thoughts.
