About this listen

Led by former Navy SEAL Victor Seymour, an elite team of mercenaries are sent by the CIA to rescue hostages and secure data from an under-siege top-secret island facility. But upon arrival, they discover ravaged military equipment, a mass grave, and a platoon of hostile forces already in retreat. As the team investigates, they uncover the secret that the island has contained for centuries.

For the first time, modern man will come face-to-face with a being from beyond the stars. A member of a deadly intergalactic invasive species, the beast is ravenous, cunning, lacking emotion or empathy. With his team dwindling, Seymour must fight to keep the beast from leaving the island, and to save humanity from the terrifying extraterrestrial known as The Pilot.

A New Predator

The Pilot by Michael Cole is an extremely fun listen. The first two hours were so good with the mercenary/ CIA stuff I almost forgot this was a creature feature it was that good. However once the creature does show up the story just gets more exciting. The Pilot deff gave me Predator vibes while it’s off spring reminded me more of an Aliens vibe. The overall story is really engaging and a non stop thrill ride. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone.

Non-stop action

Great cast of characters and action did not let up until the end. I couldn’t stop listening and was happy that my headphone battery held up

Good

This was an entertaining story and great for a light read.
Took me a few chapters to get used to the narrator however ultimately he did a great job.

Started off a little slow but...

Great story and ending. Struggled to get thru the first part but powered on and listened at length to the end.

Great characters!

I liked the story. Yes it is reminiscent of the Predator and Alien series but I enjoyed it and would recommend

Excellent

Excellent first contact story much like Predator but with new twists love that they take the POV of The Pilot too! Going to check out more of Cole’s work! Sequel?

Story's ok

I guess the book is ok. It's a bit formulaic and "Predator-ish" and not very sophisticated but, it isn't terrible or anything.

The narrator though...just..wow. I couldn't stand it.

Disappointed

I got this because I know Michael Cole does amazing books but this one, I’m disappointed.. The story just didn’t hold my attention. Lotta blood and guts for nothing.

Rolled my eyes

I ended up rolling my eyes on this story. It had feel of Predator\Alien meet former Seal but was predictable and not suspenseful. I would easily put it down and walk away from it.

The characters were typical military stereotype and rather forgetful.

The only reason I didn't was because I didn't want to leave it in my queue of things that need finished. I was very happy when I finished it and didn't have to deal with it again.
