Publisher's summary

John Sandford's acclaimed Prey novels featuring the brilliant Lucas Davenport have plunged millions of readers into the darkest recesses of the criminal mind. Now Lucas has met his match. His newest nemesis is more intelligent, more deadly, than any he has tracked before: a kidnapper, a violator, and a cruel, wanton killer who knows more about mind games than Lucas himself.

CLEVER EARLY DAVENPORT

Where does Mind Prey rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

THIS IS A DECENT LISTEN, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ENJOY THE SERIES. ITS AN EARLIER WORK SO ITS INTERESTING TO SEE HOW THE CHARACTERS EVOLVED.

What about Richard Ferrone’s performance did you like?

ITS TAKEN ME A WHILE TO CONNECT HIS VOICE TO WHAT I BELIEVE IS A YOUNGER MAN. BUT, HE DOES A FINE JOB OF VOICING THE DIFFERENT CHARACTERS.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

COULD NEVER SIT STILL THAT LONG

Any additional comments?

VERY ENJOYABLE

So sad - Last Lucas Davenport Book

Very interesting. Lucas is forced to use some unonventional tactics to solve this mystery in time because his usual methods aren't cutting it. Nice to see Letty having a bigger role.

One of John Sandfords' Best Yet !

Clues, Twists, & turns. Davenport, great characterizations; playing off Weather !
Glad I found this on audible ! thought I had finished them all .
Oh, Mr. Sandford, Davenport can still be smart, & physically tough, as He ages ........

My Favorite Prey

This book is vicious and frightening, but it is by far my favorite Prey novel. It is Lucas when Lucas was Lucas...not softer by time and marriage. Well narrated also.

On the grim side but really clever and well written

I have listened to nearly all of this series and this is near the top.
Also Ferrone has to be one of the best readers of all time.

John Sanford never fails .

Great story a lot of suspense and action . Davenport on hunt , lots of suspects lies and deceit . Man's inhumanity to man is in full view . Greed has no bounds , money and depravity go hand and hand but not together . Lucas methodically plows thru one obstacle after another in pursuit of his prey . Richard Ferrone is more than a narrator he's your guide on an action packed thrill ride .
Thank you John Sanford , you never fail to entertain !

F A H .

Love This Series

This book is brutal, but it is one of the very best in the Lucas Davenport series. Mind Prey is mind blowing. I have never pulled for characters to survive as much as I pulled for the mother and children who were kidnapped. Lucas is having a devil of a time trying to rescue them from the evil cruel kidnapper, and Mom is fighting with all she has to get free. She goes through hell from this cruel man and I hurt for her so much. Lucas and his team are frustrated and desperate to find and free her. It is just an amazing edge of the seat, nail biting experience and I was totally absorbed in the story. Sandford is a master story teller - and that is a rare talent. He is also great at creating characters and dialog.

As usual, Richard Ferrone gives an excellent narration. I don't think I could enjoy any other narrator at this point because Ferrone is the voice of the Lucas Davenport series and helps to bring the story and characters to life. This is one of the best series on Audible. Love it!!!

Still going strong

After the last few books I thought the story was getting hung up on Davenport’s personal life a bit to much.

While the personal aspects of his life are not forgotten in this installment the detective work is back in front and center.
