About this listen

She was never supposed to walk into my club. But she did.

I shouldn’t have looked twice at her. But I did.

The criminal underworld is no place for a girl like her.

One night with Katerina isn’t enough, but men like me can’t afford to be weak. So, I tell her to leave me behind. She does, but not before she sees something she shouldn’t.

When she goes into hiding, it’s my duty to hunt her down. I have a job to do, and she needs to disappear for good.

But four years later, Kat isn’t alone anymore. And the little boy right beside her looks just like me.

A 5 ⭐️ WRITING DUO THAT DELIVERED MAFIA MAGIC

I love both these authors and I’ve previously had hours and hours of enjoyment from their romances.. so, when this gritty Mafia duet came out, I eagerly bought both books.. and WOW this epic story was an intense edgy rollercoaster ride. Katerina (aka Kat) is a sweet shy nineteen year old who finds herself in a very vulnerable out of control situation after getting high for the first time in the notoriously shady Delirium Nightclub. Then Kat locks eyes with an unlikely handsome saviour - Levka Antonov (aka Lev) - the Club’s broody, dark and very dangerous Manager.. and, through a delicious bitter-sweet chain of events, their steamy one night together has life-changing consequences for both of them.

Behind his Manager’s mask, Lev is a Bratva Assassin.. he doesn’t do relationships and can’t afford to let emotions or feelings get in the way of his lethal job.. or his quest to uncover the truth. He’s a ruthless cold-blooded killer.. but, as soon as he sees Kat, his protectiveness for her awakens.. a protectiveness that will save her life over and over again because Kat ends up in the wrong place at the worst time and witnesses something horrific and has to flee. And it will take Lev four years to find her again - and their intense bitter-sweet reunion will have Lev unearthing a shocking discovery. But his subsequent second-chance choices will make a deadly enemy or two along the way as he uncovers sinister long-held secrets, breaks blood ties and makes a surprising alliance in order to destroy the threats that stand in his new family’s way.

Awesome dual POV narration brought to life the tingling chemistry, the tension and suspense, the thrills and darkish chills, the trip-wires, the tempest that was Lev’s possessive protectiveness, the tender, touching, explosive and sexy scenes and the turbulent dangerous drama and angst caused by two villainous vile characters. Kat and Lev are damaged but perfect for each other and, as their fireworks lead to some sweet, steamy, tender, intense and heartwarming scenes, their rollercoaster romance sweeps through a book 1 cliffhanger ending to a beautiful hard-won HEA soft finish. Good character growth as Kat finds her claws and Lev finds his heart.

Worth a credit? Well, we’re talking about two - and yes definitely they’re both absolutely one-hundred percent worth it. Wonderful storytelling as these two talented authors deliciously delivered everything I’d hoped for.. and much much more.

This was my first audible book a week and half ago ive sincethen listened ton20 other titles. This is still by far my favorite and the one that has got me worrying that no other book that I ever listen to or read will compare.

Cliffhanger!

It's really good and as with all other cliffhangers, right as you're at the edge of your seat, wondering what's next it ends, Damn it. Sorry guys, don't have enough patience to write a detailed review, starting the 2d book now.

4 STARS

I'm a huge fan of mafia books so as soon as I saw this on audio I had to get it. It ticks off many of my boxes and while I did like the book something was missing. I almost feel like this could have been a really solid standalone instead of a duet. Maybe it was because I already knew about the secret baby going in. I wish it would have not been in the blurb, it would have been an awesome surprise. The things I did like of course are that the hero will do what he has to to get his girl and child. I also liked that the main character is connected to one from A Zavarelli's Boston Underworld series.

Narration was good but would have liked more of a Russian accent.

Left me eager for every chapter

I enjoyed the plot and the characters. The narration was great as it left me deep into my visualization of the story. The only part of this book that left me unhappy was when it ended abruptly leaving me wondering what happened next. That was quickly resolved when I realized it was continued in another book. So I understood after the fact but for a split second I was left thinking "No! I need to know what happens!"

Can’t wait for book #2

Not sure why there are so many bad comments about the male narrator. I loved both Michael and Mackenzie. This is a winner for me, even with a cliffhanger!

Not Bad

Book ends on a cliffhanger in the middle of a scene.

Liked McKenzie's narration but Michael's was rather fast, like he was biting out each word in urgency, even when there wasn't any in the scene.

Good half of a book…

The male narrator needs to take a chill pill. He reads everything very dramatically. It’s distracting and kinda annoying. But he has a good voice if he just read things different. I hate being critical, but I hope it’s constructive and he changes how he does future books. The story was interesting, but I’m not sure if I want to use another credit to get the other half of the story. It really annoys me when authors do this. If other authors can make long books with a full story why can’t you?
