About this listen

A season of change has blessed the Amish of Missouri's Promise Lodge, as mothers-to-be anticipate the arrival of their little miracles and one young man's life is about to take an unexpected turn as he sheds his bad boy reputation and embraces the value of faith and hard work.

Long-time residents of Promise Lodge welcome a wave of newcomers that includes a pretty potter who's come to help an expectant couple, and a hard-working dairy expert ready to manage the herds on the expanding Burkholder farm. Then there's Isaac Chupp, the handsome, charming son of a notoriously unyielding Bishop from nearby Coldstream. Isaac has recklessly rebelled against his dat, and his bad boy reputation precedes him. Now he seeks a fresh start, applying for work at Dale Kraybill's bulk store.

Proving himself reliable while Dale takes off for his wedding trip is Isaac's bold first step. But more miraculous awakenings may come as he settles into the warm new light of the faithful community. And while Promise Lodge celebrates an abundance of newborns as summer turns to fall, Isaac discovers a kindred soul who has her own share of challenges. In helping her, he just may find his true purpose in loving selflessly, building up, and giving back . . .

The story was good. But I found myself fast forwarding several sections. The narrative was good but not as good as others.

Good but not as good as others.

I have loved the entire Promise Lodge Series. Miracles at Promose Lodge did not dissapoint . It is one of those books that you can't put down. Hoping maybe it won't be the last in the series, as I would love to see many more. I have fallen in love with the Promise Lodge community!

The ending was a little over the top but it was just as good as the rest of the books in the series.

Good as usual.

Continuance of characters and bringing past books in the series was enjoyable. Need to go back to her previous performer.not her usual good story but the performer at times made the story lurid and other times over dramatic. She really spoiled the entire book for me.

Poor preformance

I couldn't keep even 1 chapter straight. To the bitter end I couldn't keep up with which characters were the subject.

Maybe too many characters

I miss Susan Boyce as narrator. I knew what characters were speaking when she was reading. All of the characters now either sound way older than they should, or frail and dying. It’s so sad. Maybe consider having this book re-narrated by Susan Boyce. I think it would make a weak story better.

Terrible narration.

This is the eighth book of the promised Lodge series. Seven was touchy, eight they changed the narrator, and she is just terrible. I have never listened to such a bad narrator. All these weird voices, old people, wobbly old voices. Nobody talks like this. She didn’t stick with main character Miriam as a healthy, vibrant 40-year-old, but she sounds and acts like an old woman. it was very disappointing. The story had a lot of horny young couples, getting engaged in a week or two. Not up to snuff. But, did I mentioned the narrator was abominable? The story had some redeeming qualities, but they were lost in the mire of the narration.

Narrator sunk the book, weak as it was…
