About this listen

Everything changed in a flash of pain and blood.

All because she had to play hero.

Amber finds herself tied to two strangers, her humanity stripped from her, and a heavy responsibility laid on her shoulders.

Haunted by guilt and loss, she struggles to understand what it means to be a werewolf - and an alpha.

Magic is commonplace, but there is a divide between humans and supernaturals. There are rules. Expectations.

The title of alpha isn't given lightly, it's earned through a trial that will test her in ways she never expected.

Left with no choice but to fight for her new status as alpha, Amber must pull together her fledgling pack of werewolves that never wanted to be more than human. Time is ticking as they prepare for the night that could tear them apart. If Amber fails the alpha trials, they’ll lose a lot more than their humanity.

They’ll lose their freedom.

Note: This is not a reverse harem story.

If you like Patricia Briggs, Faith Hunter, Kim Harrison, MD Massey, Shayne Silvers, CN Crawford, Steve McHugh, Shannon Mayer, or K.F. Breene, then you will devour the Misfit Series.

Good story

If you're looking for a magical werewolf story book, you can't go wrong. It has good vs. bad, peoples' struggle with change and acceptance, and an encouraging story of teamwork, belief, and perseverance... Fun for all ages.

Pretty Good

Ok i thought it was a pretty good book. While I've said this before I'll say it again I don't really read these books I'm reviewing, I listen to them. I've gotten an audible addiction and go through a lot of books now a days. This is a good book for anyone of any age. I didn't see where Amazon said it was for kids but I could see a teen or pre teen read/listen to it no problem. Some of the books Amazon or whoever rates them teen needs to re evaluate themselves cause they have a lot of adult content.

Fantastic Series!

I really, really like this series. The characters seem to grow as the books progresses. The main heroine is by no means one dimensional which means you can really identify with her. I've already purchased the 2nd book.
The Narrator is really good, Her voices are distinctive and I would really be able to sink into the story except for one problem. The one complaint I have with the narrator is that she sounds like she needs to wipe her mouth. Too much silva in her mouth. I didn't hear it as much in the first book, but the second book I wanted to yell at her to spit! I can only assume whoever was in charge of cleaning up the audio didn't do a good job.

Not a paranormal romance

Despite what category this book has been placed in, you should know this is not a paranormal romance. Paranormal sure, but not a romance. That being said, it's still a good story. Just don't go into it expecting a love story.

couldn't put it down or rather stop listening

this book was given to me as a preview after one of the other books that I was listening to ended. I started listening to it and I couldn't stop. I finished it in the day. the author has great range as far as voices, and emotions, and overall performance. it's tough to do male voices when you're female and she did them brilliantly. I've had other authors do incredibly better it seems as though the deeper the female voices the better they are at male voices but she captivated my attention enough to where all I wanted to do was listen to the book. the book was the same all the characters were intriguing. I'm not usually one to go for multiple points of view, I usually view that as lazy writing but there was something about this one that made it work and it works really well and I don't think it would have worked any other way. there are certain things in the book that the other characters wouldn't have been able to see or experience. it seems like she Drew from a lot of the authors that I listened to or have read. The Hollows being one of them in fact a lot of her work seem to come from The Hollows. some of it seemed to come from Mercy Thompson books, as well as Kat and Bones and the Night Huntress series, finally one of my favorite authors I was thinking she was drawing from was Kelly Armstrong and the Women of the OtherWorld Series. Whether she was or she wasn't doesn't matter, if you're writing these days it's really hard to come up with something completely original but she took whatever she got from other authors and made it her own. just because I can see other authors work in this book doesn't make it any less entertaining or any less worth listening to or any less hers. I am so happy I found this series well I guess audible found it for me but I'm happy that they did because for me it's difficult to find books that draw my attention nowadays I've read so many and this is my favorite genre. by the way the other authors that I mentioned or series that I mentioned if you haven't checked them out you should, they are definitely worth listening to / reading. and so is this one

not quite what I expected

I felt like this was more a YA novel, rather than a mature novel. I was a big fan of the Magic Bites series. This was very much different than that.

Certainly not a bad effort at all, but it didn't quite meet my expectations because of the YA vibe. As for characters, I liked Amber, Carrie and Tommy, as well as the pixie. Genevieve unfortunately was not a favorite.

This book reads like a ten year old wrote it.

Zero character development throughout the entire book. There were a lot of unanswered questions blatantly presented with no resolution.
