Mediocre performance punctuates mediocre writing

It’s a middling story of John Gotti that skips over important events like Sparks Steakhouse but gives attention to Victoria Gotti’s career as a celebrity writer. Disappointing

Overall a very good account of the life and times of a mob boss

No surprises. Can be a bit dry in parts. There is nothing in this book that if you have read other mob books on Gotti will leap out at you.

Felt like I was listening to court transcript.

I'm a big fan of mafia books but felt this one read like a court transcript.

The mainstream story, well fleshed out & narrated

I think this was one of the earlier books on this. It is well put together, paced and narrated. Plenty of it is already familiar to the generic mob stories fan.

boring

This book is boring and has a lot of unsupported, unaccredited stuff included (2 examples are killing of Tommy Desimone and also killing of guy responsible for Frankie Gottie accident- both are given with "facts" that dont line up with more dependable sources). Narrator just sounds like he's reciting 30 second news blurbs.

Mispronounced names

Slow book. Watch the Gotti content on YouTube and save. If mispronounced names drive you crazy then avoid.
