About this listen

Colonel James Fitzwilliam is home. The war has left him weary, battle-scarred - and a free man of fortune ready to find a wife. He travels to Pemberley, his second home. There he meets Kitty Bennet. Her unexpected charms soon have him questioning his familial duty and his expectations. A fight looms on the horizon when his aunt - Lady Catherine de Bourgh - and his parents arrive with their own plans for his future.

Kitty Bennet has found happiness. At Pemberley, she has improved herself and formed true friendships with her sister Lizzy and Georgiana Darcy. Kitty is captivated by the gentlemanly Colonel Fitzwilliam. But she will not be silly over a redcoat again, and she will not risk her happiness - or his family’s displeasure - for his attentions. Colonel Fitzwilliam, Darcy, Lizzy, and Georgiana have their say, and Kitty learns a new lesson - love will find you at Pemberley.

Most Truly a slow novel.

What did you like best about Most Truly? What did you like least?

I was happy to hear all of the characters come back to life in this book, but it seemed like nothing really happened in the story.

Would you recommend Most Truly to your friends? Why or why not?

I read all of the reviews to try and decide whether or not to listen to this book. I went ahead and listened to it anyways. I wouldn't recommend it because it was really dry and the narrator was very bland.

How could the performance have been better?

I think that if someone else read the book, it may have brightened it up a little bit better. She seemed to read all of the voices on the same level and they all sounded the same.

Was Most Truly worth the listening time?

It was nice to hear a different version of what happened after Pride and Prejudice, but it didn't compare to some of the other stories I've already listened too. It was just way to slow. I had to listen to it in sections.

Jane Austen Fan - Must read

I am an avid Jane Austen fan from way back when and I really enjoyed Most Truly, which picked up where Pride and Prejudice ended. Kitty's and James' love story is beautifully written. A mature and demure Kitty Bennet, shy with a bit of self doubt, but most assuredly still with her innate playfulness, she captivated the honourable, gentlemanly James Fitzgerald. Their chemistry was obvious and the restraint and caring thoughtfulness of James as he agonized over his attraction for Kitty was very well managed by Reina Williams.

The narrator could have been more vibrant and dynamic in her narration, but all in all a good effort on her part.

A delightful 'sequence' to Pride and Prejudice and I like the portrayal of the main characters and of course the supporting characters helped to make this an enthralling read.
A great read and by Ms. Williams.

Sweet talk with attitude. A great classic llisten.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

As a life long Jane Austen fan, I wasn't sure if I would take to a 'what if' story; but I was pleasantly surprised, and I really enjoyed this novella, and it's 'voice'.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Most Truly?

The rather overlooked, Kitty Bennett, finds her own voice in this highly 'listenable to version'. The narration hits just the right tone, and shows off the writing beautifully. It is no mean feat to take the Kitty character and develop it into something so authentic. The author does this really well, and I got so absorbed in the story, I forgot to do some essential tasks, and some of my other worries just went out of the window. That, in my opinion is the essence of a good book.

What does Kate Sample bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The author has paid attention to some crucial details; which make the book credible, and the English narration, with its delicacy and simplicity, adds to the whole experience. Highly recommended by me; and I am not easily pleased!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I loved the dialogue, particularly.

Any additional comments?

A really good combination of words well written and well narrated.

Fun Novella!

I enjoyed this story, it was short and sweet. I have listened to it several times because the dialog is quite funny and relaxing. I have listened to all of the novellas in the series and liked them all! The narrator was very very good. Not sure why others made negative comments as it is what it is supposed to be, a cute variation with easy to imagine scenes. It is a novella not War and Peace.

Short and sweet

Lovely novella about Kitty Bennet and Colonel Fitzwilliam meeting and falling in love at Pemberley after the Colonel has been forced out of the army dur to an injury. The action happens quickly as this is a very short work. But the writing is worth the time to listen or read as the author gives the characters some great inner dialogue of the characters and lovely imagery.
