About this listen

Sergeant Rachel Bryce's determination to uphold the rules at any cost has made her a pariah on the Tacoma police force. When she is put in charge of the new mounted division, dissension in the ranks seems to guarantee the program's failure. Rachel asks an old college acquaintance to help her train the horses and their riders before they make their public debut amid the fireworks and crowds on the Fourth of July.

Callan Lanford doesn't play by the rules. She invents her own. The scion of a polo-playing dynasty, Cal has been riding since before she could walk, and she scores both on and off the field with equal ease. But she isn't prepared for the emotional ride she takes as Rachel forces her to confront her achievement-oriented family's rejection. Cal's attraction to Rachel grows, but both their future together and the future of the mounted unit are uncertain, plagued by suspicious accidents - and threats.

A Mounted Police romance.

If you are a fan of vocal fry...

The story was very engaging and I enjoyed it thoroughly. And while the narrator is no Jim Dale, she is quite good. I did not find her cadence or inflection to be annoying and the vocal fry was a definite bonus... but I really enjoy vocal fry.

Story gets better

Despite the initial repugnance I felt toward the over the top soft porn aspect of the story, the character development had merit and I was able to finish the story.

good read and narration

enjoyed this book and the reader. I like how Walsh writes an actual storyline and is not just focussed on the relationship as many books do.

Enjoyable Romance with weak mystery story.

Great romance story about the Riding unit of mounted royal Canadian police. The mystery part of the story was weak, but the romance was great.

Great story. Annoying narrator

This is a well written story with likable main characters. The character development and the relationships between Rachel and Cal was well done including the other mounted police officers and even the horses. 5 stars for the book itself.
What I didn't care for was the narrator. She has an annoying inflection - I can only describe as a high society valley girl accent. Her voice rises at the end of each sentence. Also there wasn't much difference between the two mains voices. The author describes when Rachel uses her authoritative policeman's voice - yet the narrator's voice doesn't change. I almost quit early on, but the writing was able to rise above the narration. If I wasn't already in the middle of another book, I would've quit the audible and read it myself.

I loved this book.

I loved Mounting Danger. This is book one in the Tacoma Mounted Patrol Series. Excellent book. Lots of romance, drama, police work and horses. Excellent narration by Hollis Elizabeth. So hopefully the other two books in the series will be available on audio soon. Yes?
