About this listen

An enemies-to-friends-to-lovers lesbian romance about finding heart, hope, and second chances you never thought you'd have.

Stella Carter is a former criminal prosecutor and new widow facing down middle age alone in Los Angeles. Without being a prestigious lawyer and someone's wife, she's not sure who she is anymore or where her life is headed.

When she invites her niece to move in with her, Stella accidentally reconnects with her former colleague, LAPD Captain Elizabeth Murphy. The woman is beautiful but cold; someone she was always at odds with on the job.

Surprisingly, Stella finds herself leaning on her niece and Elizabeth more and more to navigate her loss. But as time goes on, Stella can't keep seeing Elizabeth and pretending she's not attracted to her. Besides, there's absolutely no way Elizabeth feels the same way. Is there?

Contains mature themes.

Honey in the Marrow is a heartwarming story.

The realistic, lovable women characters kept me riveted. I couldn’t stop listening to the narration. I especially enjoyed the multiple-generation aspect. Great summertime and bedtime listen.

Such a Soft, Sweet Love Story

This is a lovely, lovely romance between two mature women that developes over many months. It's not exactly a slow burn; more like a wise burn. These women have more water under the bridge than just a high school crush gone bad or a cheating lover. They are both professional women who have experienced ups and downs in their work lives ... and their romances (hetero). IDK, this romance is so sweet and soft....and eventually quite hot...it's one of those books that will stick with me for a while.

I have to give a shout out to Anastasia Watley. In the audio version. she offers a perceptive, gentle, nuanced reading that enhances the already remarkable prose of Ms Waters. Her performance leaves you with the feeling that she understands what the MCs are going through, and she wants to respect their challenges. Do yourself a favor and listen. You'll not only fall in love with the characters, you'll also start searching out other readings by Ms Watley.

Just lovely.

Great book

I just wanted to hug Stella the first half of the book. I loved the real life feel of it; you have feelings for someone but it takes a while for it to all work out. On that note, about 6 hours into the book I thought "if these two aren't knocking boots by the end of this book, so help me" But it's ok, that takes a while too but worth the wait. Anastasia Watley could read me a phone book and I would enjoy it. Dreamy sigh

Beautifully written and performed

The beginning of this book really took me into Stella's soul. I felt her depression. I also like how the ending wasn't wrapped up in a bow. It left me thinking about how we choose to age and confront our morality and how we choose to live facing it. AW did an amazing job.

classic love story

this was a slow burn romance with very likeable MCs who, as a slightly older lesbiam could relate to and cheer for. this was a special book.
