About this listen

When Denver stay-at-home mom Becky Montgomery caught her husband of 20 years in their bed with another woman, she never dreamed her three children would blame her for the resulting divorce. Feeling like maternal failures, she and two friends (feisty PI Sam and No-One's-Accused-Me-Of-Being-Mother Teresa) form the Bad Mothers Club in order to deal with their various child-related heartaches more positively.

When her ex-husband, Jack, is accused of murdering Becky's first post-divorce date, the Bad Mothers set out to prove his innocence, but only for the sake of her children. These Bad Mothers have faced everything from terrible twos and sleep deprivation to rebellious teens and heartbreak - they're not about to let a mere murderer stop them from winning the Worst Mother of the Month award.

Where is the rest of the series?

A funny cozy mystery with murder, infidelity, divorce and motherhood to a teenage goth. Wonderful job by the narrator, especially with the daughter's whiny attitude. I was looking forward to listening to the sequel, and found none. Please continue this series!

Pretty good read!

I love a good clean story!! I wasn't totally in love with the gal who read the story.... Her different voices were a little cheesy but still a great story!

Really enjoyed this one

This was a really nice surprise. The plot was well developed and had a nice pace. I even thought the characters were likable and believable. I almost gave it 3 stars but I really liked this one. However, the characters were a little bit too perfect. Everyone was good looking, smart, and perky. The 17 year old daughter really got on my nerves. I'm not around seventeen year olds very often but she behaved like a 13 year old. She constantly whined and put demands on her mother that were very unrealistic.

Great concept for a series!

What did you love best about Murder Is Misunderstood?

I likes the whole series idea. A bad mother's club in the very best way possible.

What other book might you compare Murder Is Misunderstood to and why?

The Housewife's Assassin Handbook is similar but a little more explicit.

Any additional comments?

Why don't you have the rest of the series in Audio? I hate getting a first one and liking it to only be shut out of the series.

Nice premise, promising start

A decent cozy and not overly cute. Main character is likable though a little bit saintly (if you can say that about a woman who broke the nose of her cheating ex-husband when she found him in flagrante). There are a couple of things that a sharp editor might have caught (for instance, how does the fact that someone broke into her house and tried to kill the main character not come up at all when the she and the hunky cop speak the next day?)

I liked most of the characters, though I didn't love the narrator's choices for the other females in the book: the daughter was written as a goth but read as a total valley girl (could be, but in Colarado? As the mother of a whining teenage girl myself, I can attest that not all whining is valley-speak.) the best friend is Brazillian but sounds oddly like the daughter, and the new friend sounds like she is trying a bit to hard to be sexy.

I would probably buy future books in this series - but not if there were a new book by one of my preferred authors waiting in my wish list.

Keep the aspirin ready!

The plot and storyline were good. The narrator had the most obnoxious voices, I seriously got headaches from listening to her! But, I did so I could hear the end of the story.
