Publisher's summary

Clare Cosi's new friend, millionaire David Mintzer, has an offer no New York barista could turn down: an all-expenses-paid summer away from the sticky city. At his Hamptons mansion, she'll relax, soak up the sun, and, oh yes, train the staff of his new restaurant. So Clare packs up her daughter, her former mother-in-law, and her special recipe for iced coffee for what she hopes will be one de-latte-ful summer...

Soon, Clare tends the coffee bar at her first Hamptons gala. But the festivities come to a bitter end when an employee turns up dead in David's bathroom--a botched attempt on the millionaire's life. Thanks to the Fourth of July fireworks, no one heard any gunshots, and the police are stuck in holiday traffic. Concerned for everyone's safety, Clare begins to investigate. What she finds will keep her up at night--and it's not the java jitters.

Very Enjoyable

This was my first Cleo Coyle novel. It was delightful. The characters were fascinating and the plot was filled with twists and turns so often that the who-dun-it was a mystery to the end!

Another fun book

It was nice to move the story out of New York City and to the hamptons. Many of the same characters were in it, but it introduced a whole new set of people.

Great coffee based cozy mystery!

Clare Cozi is taking a vacation from The Village Blend Coffee House to work as a Barista in her rich friend, David, restaurant in the Hamptons. She's also keeping watch on her daughter's love life with a young man who has a less than stellar reputation. "Madam", her ex mother in law, and owner of the Village Blend fits right in with this rich society crowd, having a summer fling herself.

Everything is going great until death hits David's Fourth of July party. Though the victim is an employee of David's, Clare disagrees with the police as to whom the intended victim was meant to be.

I love these mysteries, as they're filled with coffee facts that are detailed and thoroughly engaging reading. In this book, there are also fun facts about the Hamptons with the rich and famous. Once again, the mystery is exciting and full of red herrings. "Madam's" role in this book is greater, with this spunky 80 something character, who is just endearing. One of the best cozy series around!

Nicely done.

I wasn't expecting this series to pan out into something I could enjoy. But, I'm happily mistaken.

There were parts of the book that didn't make a lot of sense to me.. for instance, why would this female just hop right in and start right in investigating before the police? That wasn't answered for me.

Other than those few questions though, the book was a delightful cozy who-dun-it. The mystery was great and the writing is maturing nicely.

I've really enjoyed the narrator in this series. She does a superb job on the voices and makes the characters come alive.

Yes, I can wholeheartedly recommend this book and can honestly say I look forward to listening to the rest of the series now!

Good mystery With the Usual Characters

This is one of the better Village Blend Coffee House mysteries. There's a lot about the culture of the upper class New Yorkers in the Hamptons. Who exactly was the intended victim? Where was the motive?
I especially like the "fling" Clair has with the former Military Seal, as it is most subtle and short lived.
