Publisher's summary

Jessica Fletcher takes up the cause of her good friend Barbara Babs Wirth after Babs's husband Hal suffers a fatal heart attack that Jessica has reason to believe was actually murder. Her suspicions are aroused by a sinister dating site Hal used while he and Babs were having marital issues - a site that might be complicit in somehow swindling him out of millions. Jessica's investigation reveals that Hal was far from the only victim, and when his former business partner is also killed, a deadly pattern emerges.

Jessica teams up with a brilliant, young, computer hacker to follow the trail, but as she gets closer to the truth, two near misses force her to realize that she could very well be the next victim. The stakes have never been this high, as Jessica finds herself being stalked by the killer she is trying to catch. She'll need to set the perfect trap to avoid her very own date with murder.

Need a different narrator

This is first book of the murder she wrote series by this author... not bad but there is room for improvement .... for ex. He went on and on about Jessica turning in her old phone for a smart phone.... the character of Jessica Fletcher would adapt quickly to a smart phone.
Also the narrator of this story did not have Jessica’s character down she needs to read some of the previous books and work on her character development. She did have the character of Harry Mc Graw down... so overall not bad just not the top notch as previous books....

Great read!

Good narration. I enjoyed the time Jessica spent in New York. I really enjoy the Murder She Wrote series. Can't wait to start the next one.

continuity

I noticed some continuity errors, like Jessica still having the NY apartment (unless I misunderstood having heard her say she gave it up in a previous novel) and there was no mention of having a romantic involvement with George Sutherland (it makes sense in context, I promise) but it is an otherwise good story.

The narrator is different in this one and it took a minute to get used to the change.

Engrossing storyline

All was very engaging. I'm always searching for older female protagonist with strong sense of self and this series meets that criteria. They are my go to books that I don't have to sample before buying.

Not the Voice for Jessica

This book was ok. I had trouble staying interested in it due to the new narrator. The narrator of this book does a good job, but I really liked Sandra Burr doing Jessica Fletcher's voice.

Jessica with new attitude

I own every audio book in this series and am a huge fan. As many reviews mentioned, there are new voices for familiar characters and new attitudes too. Everyone including Jessica is a little edgier and more sarcastic than before. I mostly liked the changes including how Sheriff Mort Metzger is no longer infuriatingly slow on the take or how Dr. Seth Hazlit is no longer so old school and sexist. It made me like them more. The plot was interesting and fast moving. That said, I do think the authors could scale back on the sarcasm. Everyone sounds like they hate each other and it's distracting.

Not Jessica Fletcher

I have to agree with most of the other reviews. I am so disappointed in this book and the narration. I read Murder She Wrote books as my "comfort food". She and Mort were so sarcastic and snarky with each other. Why? Don't we have enough of that in the real world? Jessica is supposed to be classy. And no Maine accent? Again, why? I understand this is a new narrator and a new author but we read these books because we know these characters so well. You can't change them or "update" them. Sorry, but I was not happy.
