About this listen

With work on the reconstruction of her beloved home almost complete, Jessica Fletcher is in high holiday spirits, spearheading the annual Christmas parade and preparing for her nephew Grady and his family to come to town. The only thing dampening the holiday cheer is the discovery of two sets of bones on Jessica’s property: one set ancient, the other only about a year old. It’s concluded that they were both placed there during the reconstruction, and Jessica suspects that, despite the centuries between them, the remains might be connected. Soon tabloid reporter Tad Hollenbeck arrives in Cabot Cove to write a story about what he calls “the murder capital of the country”. But when Tad himself is murdered, Jessica speculates that his arrival, his death, and the discovery of the bones are all somehow linked.

As Jessica digs deeper to find the connection between the bones and Tad’s murder, everything seems to come back to a mystery that has long plagued Cabot Cove. If she wants to solve the case, she’ll need to delve into her beloved town’s dark history, or else this holiday season may be her last....

This particular Jessica Fletcher novel was bitter sweet. With memories of her late husband, Frank, and everyone gathering for Christmas, this cozy mystery was touching as well as informative as it tells the story of Cabot Cove’s founding fathers.

As Always a Great Cozy Mystery

I was excited to see Murder on the Court has been been recorded and will listen to it next. I love these books which really extend the TVshow. I'll listen to this one every Christmas.

Another great book in the series !

Jon Land writes authentic mystery stories that are suspenseful and interesting until the end. He keeps the character of Jessica Fletcher true to her reputation. Newer writer in current books is disappointing, so I returned to the earlier books.

Excellent and suspenseful!

I always enjoy murder she wrote. but after Jon Land took over the series has definitely changed. in this book Jessica's nephew is going to start his own accounting firm but a few books back when Jessica was in New York city visiting him his firm he worked for went under after a murder on the set of a commercial she was shooting and supposedly she said he went off to start a firm then. she also said she has note seen her nephew's son Frank since he was a baby and she visited them a few books back and he was a pre teen and on set at the same commercial where there was a murder and he was almost blamed for it. and finally what ever happened to the Scotland yard detective she talks about every book. I mite have just missed it. he seems to have been replaced with a private detective that Jon Land drives home way to hard about Jessica not paying him for services. it's funny for a while but it is almost to much. its is still a fun book but if you have listened to the whole series it feels like the new author has not completely done his homework and read the whole series. For fans that have read many of the books there are just many inconsistencies in my opinion .

I liked it all. at first I wasn't thrilled with the voice of Jessica Fletcher, not Angela Landsberry but she grew on me.

the bits of humor infused in the story made the characters come alive.

Anytime someone besides Cynthia Darlow narrates, it just isn't as good. For me Cynthia is the voice of Jessica. Laurel's style is more halting. I did start to get used to it by the end of the book. I found the storyline enjoyable. The banter between the characters had me chuckleing many times.

Regretfully I miss Cynthia Darlow

Great narration and a complex but not confusing mystery. Captures the spirit of the tv show and the Christmas season!
