About this listen

Any wedding is a big deal in the small village of Kilbane - even more so when the bride is a famous fashion model. It's also good for business; Siobhan O'Sullivan's bistro will be catering the three-day affair. When the drunken best man is disinvited, Siobhan's own beau, Macdara, gladly steps in. But finding the original best man murdered in the woods casts a pall over the nuptials. And when a second member of the wedding party is poisoned, Macdara goes from being best man to prime suspect. With a killer at large and a string of robberies plaguing Kilbane, Siobhan vows to clear Macdara's name. But like the bride walking down the aisle, Siobhan needs to watch her step.

The writing is done poorly for a story to be read aloud

I enjoy the stories of this series and the characters are enjoyable.
The problem comes when read aloud. There are so many short sentences followed by “said by” that it drove me a bit Dingy to the point of almost not being able to Finish listening to the story!
Overall a fun read.

Too many characters

A disappointing second effort. I wanted to learn more about about the characters from the first book and I didn’t. The plot was confusing because there were too many characters.

Another winner!

It took this second book of the Irish Village Mystery series to realize that this my ideal kind of mystery novel. You've got a murder, a idyllic setting, a lovable heroine, natural and witty dialog, and plenty of twists to keep you guessing. These books are such a pleasure to read (and to listen to on Audible--Caroline Lennon is an absolute treat to listen to).

I listened to this book with my mother on a road trip and we would constantly pause it and deliberate on who we thought did it. O'Connor is great at driving suspense, creating complex characters, and writing conversations that will make you gasp or laugh. Siobhan O'Sullivan, the protagonist of our lovely mystery, is as fiery as her hair, but has plenty of flaws to make you facepalm.

Another reviewer said these books are like a hot cup of tea and it's true. When I'm listening/reading to these books, I always wish I could put the rest of my life on hold and just read all the way through.

You're missing out if you don't pick up this series.

Some plot holes but enjoyable

This is an enjoyable story mostly. I generally like all of the recurring characters. My problem is that the heroine's lying and withholding of information got really old and often made little sense. It was just a poorly used plot device to manipulate the situation, so the author didn't have to come up with anything more complicated. I liked the heroine less for it. I still like the series, and I will read the next one, but we'll see how things go for buying more.
