About this listen

This homicide case featured aristocrats as far as the eye could see, between the Russians and the Spaniards, and Acton, of course, who was supposedly investigating the others, but seemed a little too deferential for Doyle's taste.

Why wasn't her husband moving in on the killer? And why did she have the sense that she was standing on the outside, peering into a world where there were no laws and no explanations - only birthrights, forged in ancient blood.

Poor narrative

After falling in love with Doyle and Acton it's shocking to hear the change in narrator with this book and the previous book

Love/Hate

Always love the stories and the series BUT what happened to Marnye Young, the original narrator? I found myself reading most of this book instead of listening. Did not enjoy this narration. If I wasn’t actually reading and listening at the same time I couldn’t tell which character was speaking. I miss the richness of Marnye Young’s accents.

OK story - narrator doesn't work for this book

For some reason someone with an American accent was used to narrate a book written from the viewpoint for an Irish woman, and set in London. Doesn't make sense and takes away from the book. The story is no longer going forward, but running around in circles. I will stay with the series, but I don't enjoy it much as the first couple of books.

You’ve got to be kidding!

Fire the person who hires the narrators for this series. The first narrator was excellent. The second narrator was good. After that, the quality of narration has consistently dropped. You cannot imagine my surprise when I started this book, and it was the same unsuited narrator as in the last. It never occurred to me That she would ever be hired to narrate another of these British books. She needs to be reading only books for and about North American New York upper crust wannabes. She absolutely, unequivocally, inarguably, should never, ever, not again, try to narrate a British and Irish story. It’s upsetting to the listener and downright disrespectful to those who have purchased the audible book. Shame on whomever made the decision. Shame on whomever chose to deny me a pleasurable listen. That person should be fired because, that person does not care about the listener, does not care about the author, and does not care about doing a good job for their employer. Shame, shame, shame

Couldn't listen to it all

Srsly. The narrator has an India Indian British accent. I'll not be listening to the other books in this series

Horrible narration

Anne Cleveland’s Doyle & Acton Mystery series are wonderful books. The main characters are unique and original, as are the storylines. The narrator for the first three books in the series, Marcella Riordan, did a fabulous job and was an absolute pleasure to listen to. Unfortunately, the narrators for the rest of the books in the series went downhill, and Rachanee Lumayno mangled the Irish and British accents so badly that I was forced to stop listening.
