Another twisty tale from Oxfordshire.
The murder victim is a fifteen year old boy who turns out to be a very nasty little git. The list of suspects just keeps growing until an ending that totally blindsided me!
Gemma Dawson is the voice actor who really brings even more credibility to the story.

Sneaky!

I enjoy Faith Martin’s books. She covers every detail, and one never knows the murderer until the end. Bravo!

…the ending was disappointing. Not terrible, just not as good as the rest of the book. Until the last chapter I had decided to give it 5 stars. Still, I think this was the best of the Hilary Green books yet, and I do recommend it. I’m ready for the next one.

Great story and narrator, except…

I loved this book because Hillary Greene is a fascinating character with her insight into her suspects' minds. Her interrogations are more like therapy sessions that result in astonishing revelations. Love it! I am loving the anticipation of a courtship battle, between two investigators, over her favor .

Great story with a surprise twist at the end

I liked this installment in the series so much that I immediately gave it a second listen, paying more attention to the interplay among the characters now that I knew how the case would wrap up. I truly enjoy Faith Martin's writing. She adds just enough of the human condition to the people in her stories to make them relatable without over-analyzing them. The twists and turns of the case are interesting with satisfying resolutions. Truly entertaining.

Clever and fast-paced

These books are so quiet it can
be a challenge to pay attention for clues and figure out who-done-it and -why. I do love the British accent and idioms that sprinkle conversation. Narrator's wok is excellent.

FMartin has done it again! Continual development of relatable heroine and supporting cast of characters. Hillary, thankfully continues to be gritty, intelligent, and discerning! Thank you Ms Martin for NOT making her into some wishy washy love struck milk sop! Please keep her strong willed & capable! As long as THAT happens i'll keep buying every installment!

And the hits just keep in coming!
