A Favorite in the Series

This book was written well. The descriptions of the medical conditions and treatment were excellent. I especially enjoyed the narration.

Sadly last book for me because audible changes narrator!

This has been a wonderful series that I have thoroughly enjoyed and I was so looking forward to the remaining books. Unfortunately Wendy Wolfson does not narrate the remaining books and she was replaced by a absolutely horrible narrator that is impossible to listen too with any enjoyment at all. When the narrator of Her Royal Spyness books sadly died audible replaced her with a narrator who mage a huge effort of sounding the same as the previous narrator and keep the personality of the characters and she pulled it off. Audible does not seem to understand that the voice of the narrator is as important as the book itself! The narrator the replaced Wendy Wolfson with sounds like a horse crow and the characters sound so different it is impossible to get used to! If audible keeps replacing narrators in the middle of a series then they need to make an effort to find somebody that sounds the same. If they don't even try to do this or keep trying to peddle AI narrators then I will be buying a lot fewer books from audible in the future! They first thing I do before buying an audio book is listen to the narrator so I can decide if I like them. I have refrained from buying countless books because of a bad narrator! So when you find a good one like Wendy Wolfson you don't want her to be replaced mid series! So yes I can warmly recommend the well written books and plots in this series but you might want to listen to the narrator sample before you wenture on to buy the next book in this series because you might find that you can't stand it either and decide to get the kindle version if you want to finish the series!

Wow

Oh what a tangled web we weave . This was a stumper but so good. Sad and tense but with a good ending.

Murder and the ways of the nobility

I love this series and I love this series and this installment of the historical whodunit series staring Captain Jason Redmond and Inspector Daniel Haze. Like the other books in the series, it had a layered storyline, an intriguing mystery, surprising plot twists, and suspense. I was equally desperate to read it all at once to solve the mystery and also to savor it and make it last. Jason and Daniel are portrayed as real, relatable and complex people who have flaws and scars, but are really just trying to do their best as messy humans. Captain Jason Redmond is an American surgeon who inherited his British grandfather’s estate and title. He is living with his wife and infant daughter in London while he teaches and volunteers at the hospital. Daniel Haze is a detective inspector for Scotland Yard. He is widowed and lives with his young daughter. They are good friends and their different approaches often complement each other while solving cases. Daniel requests Jason’s help when the body of an earl is discovered in his country stable stabbed with pitchfork. The investigation leads Daniel and Jason to unlikely places, dead ends, plot twists, and surprising revelations. As always, there are smaller side personal story arcs and social commentary which enrich the main plot line and give the characters greater dimension. I am so happy there are more books to read in this series.

Wendy Wolfson did a phenomenal job narrating the story and characters into life with enough change of inflection, tone and cadence to voice multiple characters quite convincingly.
