Dark and twisted

Irina Shapiro is one of my favorite authors. This series is great and I never know who is the culprit until the twisted ending.

Murder of Innocents

Love the many twists and turns in this one. Multiple murders, difficult to connect need the professionalism and tenacity of Dr. Reckon d and Inspector Hays. Very enjoyable audiobook!

Death, innocence, and sins of the fathers

I loved this installment of the historical whodunit series staring Captain Jason Redmond and Inspector Daniel Haze. Like the other books in the series, it had a layered storyline, an intriguing mystery, surprising plot twists, and suspense. I was equally desperate to read it all at once to solve the mystery and also to savor it and make it last. Jason and Daniel are portrayed as real, relatable and complex people who have flaws and scars, but are really just trying to do their best as messy humans. Captain Jason Redmond is an American surgeon who inherited his British grandfather’s estate and title. He is living with his wife and infant daughter in London while he teaches, volunteers at the hospital and performs autopsies for the police. Daniel Haze is a detective inspector for Scotland Yard. He is widowed and lives with his young daughter. Jason and Daniel are good friends and their different approaches often complement each other while solving cases together. They are once again attempting to solve a difficult mystery when two young boys are found dead in a trunk. The location is outside Scotland Yard’s jurisdiction but near the small town where they previously lived and the baronet asked for their help. The investigation into the deaths leads Daniel and Jason to unlikely places, dead ends, plot twists, secrets, and surprising revelations. As always, there are smaller side personal story arcs and social commentary which enrich the main plot line and give the characters greater dimension. I love this series and these characters.

Alex Lee did a good job narrating the story and characters into life with a good amount of change in inflection, tone and cadence.

Narration

I love all of the books in this series, but ibdo not care for this current narrator. I would much prefer Wendy Wolfson narrate all the Redmond and Haze books.

Good sequel but narration struggles.

Enjoy the series but the narrator cannot do a decent American accent. It’s grinding to listen to Jason Redmond who sounds like he’s clenched every muscle in his head before speaking.

I’ll try one more…narrator.

I love this series but I cringe at the new narration. I’ll try one more after this. That’s all.
