Publisher's summary

Still recovering from breaking up with her boyfriend and alienating half the people in town, Skye Denison has sworn off men - but she hires sexy contractor Beau Hamilton to renovate the old house she inherited. After all, who can ignore his qualifications? Golden hair, bronzed chest, muscular thighs - he’s just too good to be true.

Sure enough, he has a reputation for conning the ladies. But before the not so nave Skye can fire the hunk, he turns up dead. Since even bad boys deserve justice, Skye has to juggle more than a passionate police chief, a cagey brother with a secret, and a possibly haunted house. She’s got a killer to catch.

Bad boy trying to be good

Would you listen to Murder of a Real Bad Boy again? Why?

yes I would, I actually would listen to the whole series over again. these books are really good, and there are little hidden hints that I feel I miss the first time that I listen to each story then at the end I will say "oh yeah I remember that happening"

What other book might you compare Murder of a Real Bad Boy to and why?

I think these series of books have a similar comparison to the Harry Bosh books for me.. I love that series just how each book continues where the previous one left off at and that is how these books are, and you really have to listen to what is going on in the book to figure out the clues just like Sky does..

Which character – as performed by Christine Leto – was your favorite?

I like Sky in this book, she is pretty much my favorite character in this whole series, but I do like May Sky's mother.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I am not sure what the tag line should be that is a hard one..

Spoiler Alert

This is a fun, witty and interesting series filled with entertaining characters and a smidgen of drama. As always Skye gets involved personally with a mystery in her small town. There is a lot going on- the missing cat, the murder of her handyman and her relationships with two men. All of the storylines are nicely tied together and sorted by the end of the book. I do have a couple of problems with the plot. 1. Simon's refusal to talk to Skye about what happened while he was on vacation and 2. Giving away a large sum of money in this economy when Skye can barely pay for the repairs on her house. I found both to be unrealistic but I won't give anymore spoilers on that. I will say that Simon has got to be the most arrogant man in town and Skye is better off without him. This is a good read. I already bought the next book.

Good performance but the listed narrator is wrong

Any additional comments?

Another entertaining book in the series but there is one correction to the credits. This book, like all the others is narrated by Christine Leto not Khristine Hvan. This is actually important to me since after 8 books you get used to the tempo & characterizations of a certain narration style and changes to a new narrator can be jarring even if the new person does an excellent job.

Good book, what is wrong with you?

I really like this series, and the woman gets on my nerves, a little bit with her women’s power thing. I’m a woman, I think she goes over the top. My main problem is you don’t want somebody to call you a girl or a lady, but you let a man put his hands on you, and not press charges, you will leave him out there to attack other women. I have a real problem with that!

Liked it - But not my favorite

I enjoy all the Scumble River Mysteries because I have become attached to the characters. The narrator is always great as well. There are a few things that prevent this one from being a favorite. I was very much looking forward to some exciting changes in Skye's love life in this book. I had gotten tired of her previous relationship and was very much looking forward to a new relationship in this book. But it never really makes progress. Skye spends a lot of time being obsessed about "taking it slow" and when she does get about to get close to her new man, something prevents it every time. So that was a letdown. The mystery was okay except that it was the only time that comes to mind where I knew who the guilty party was way before Skye did. She seemed a little clueless this time around.
