About this listen

In the small mountain town of Amorea, it's stretching toward autumn of 1954. The memories of a world at war are fading in the face of a prosperous future. Doors are left unlocked at night, and neighbors are always there to give each other a helping hand.

The people here know certain things as fact:

Amorea is the best little town there is.

The only good commie is a dead commie.

The Women's Club of Amorea runs the town with an immaculately gloved fist.

And bookstore owner Mike Frazier loves that boy down at the diner, Sean Mellgard. Why they haven't gotten their acts together is anybody's guess. It may be the world's longest courtship, but no one can deny the way they look at each other.

Slow and steady wins the race, or so they say.

But something's wrong with Mike. He hears voices in his house late at night. There are shadows crawling along the walls and great clouds of birds overhead that only he can see.

Something's happening in Amorea. And Mike will do whatever he can to keep the man he loves.

Perfect combination of author and narrator

I’ve read this novel three times, twice along with Kirt Graves' narration. Each time I’ve read it, I’ve come away marveling at TJ Klune's ability to craft a story that's emotionally true and totally engaging. Kirt's narration Is powerfully on point, bringing TJ's words and characters to life. He has a way of conveying strong emotions in a subtle, believable way. I can’t praise his narration enough.

Fantastic Story!

Once again, this author proves why he is one of my all time favorite mm romance writers.

I absolutely love Mike and my heart broke for Greg but the overall story shrouded in this “Twilight Zone” type of mystery not only kept my interest but the narrator, though a bit young sounding did a fabulous job bringing Amoura or whatever the name of the world was alive for me.

Another fantastic tale I did not want to end from this author!

Murmuration

This was oddly good.It was long and a bit confusing at times, but very intriguing.Mike is in love with Sean, but is taking it easy. There are big age differences to consider, among other things. There are people in their world that just seem to disappear. The reason is astonishing.Kirt Graves is wonderful as narrator.I was provided this book free by the author, narrator or publisher.

Murmuration

Started off strong and then drug in the middle. I almost gave up on it. Glad I didn’t. The last part of the book was well worth the build up.

I'm glad I listened.

This kept coming up as a recommended book and it just didn't look interesting to me. But I took the plunge and bought it. I've recently decided that TJ Klune is my favorite writer. This story bordered on a line of scifi and I really enjoyed it. I've come to the conclusion that Klune can write anything. I don't want to have spoilers in my review so I won'tgo into to many details but i will say that i was rooting for Greg in the end. The narrator was a good choice also.

I love the writing style. Graves is amazing

I though Amoria stood for Spanish love town and the love shack song was in reference to it.

Brilliant (but fast forward thru the 1st 6 hours)

Don't give up on this book until you're heard the entire story! I admit the 1st 6 hours are a confusing mess of memories; different decades, different people, story line often changing mid sentence. The pace is painfully slow! Then, half way through, and in typical TJ Klune style, it all starts to make sense (wow-did not see this coming). I finished the book over a week ago and the story is still kind of haunting me.

Superb

Would you consider the audio edition of Murmuration to be better than the print version?

Of course anything told is better. The performance was amazing and it doesn’t give away what you expect from the stoty

What was one of the most memorable moments of Murmuration?

For me the sex part. Something you expect as the story delivers

What does Kirt Graves bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The performance. The rythm

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Unexpected twist of events! Futuristic and romantic

Any additional comments?

I do highly recomend it. Is not something you expect is science fiction, romance and future

my brain feels like a pretzel 😂

Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was there anything I found annoying: no
Did I feel an emotional connection to the characters: yes
Would I listen to it again: in a heartbeat - i think i'd get more out if it the second time around - knowing now what i do (lol!)

I think this might be one of those books you either love or hate. I'm definitely on the loved it side of the fence.
The world building was amazing and the story line was trippy. Overall a thoroughly entertaining ride.

Kirt Graves narration makes the whole audio a worthwhile experience.

Mixed feelings

This book made me depressed and extremely sad for Greg, that he had to go back into a coma for studying just to be happy. Don't get me wrong the book was incredibly written but for myself it made me really sad that that was the only choice he had other than living deformed by what happen in the prison. And how people always jump to the husband did it. Can't say I would've chosen to go back in.
