Publisher's summary

You’d think being magically tethered to the hottest warden in all Verona wouldn’t be a hardship.

You’d be wrong.

Incubus Nico Azertiran has his dream job as a cherub-in-training. It’s the perfect position for a lust demon who’s more interested in happily-ever-afters than one-night stands. Or it would be, if he didn’t keep screwing it up. When a new cherub gadget misfires, Nico is left trussed to Verona’s most eligible warden, the incredibly grumpy, Sir Flame.

Flambeau Illume has a job to do. Someone’s murdering Verona’s rich and famous, and Sir Flame’s hot on the killer’s trail...until he has the misfortune to get magically lassoed to the most infuriating incubus he’s ever had the displeasure to meet. Except, maybe Nico isn’t so terribly awful. But how can he solve his case and keep Nico safe at the same time? Especially when the sweet demon seems to have a bullseye on his back.

Together they need to solve the crime, stay alive, and - if their luck changes - maybe even fall in love. Easy, right?

Must Love Demons is part of the Magic Emporium series. Each audiobook stands alone, but each one features an appearance by Marden’s Magic Emporium, a shop that can appear anywhere, but only once and only when someone’s in dire need. This audiobook contains explicit scenes, a lariat of love, a demon tail with a mind of its own, and a guaranteed HEA.

Wonderful

I really loved listening to this book, there was lots of fun and seriousness in it, with a great ending. I hope there’s more of Nico and Flame in future.

Cute, unexpected, complex and absolutely wonderful

A total fantasy world, where a 7 foot incubus demon had the power of love rather than lust. His magic is for true love, so he tries to become a Cupid. Seriously. A 7 foot tall incubus wearing a Cupid toga, trying to shoot a teeny tiny bow. It gets a teeny bit campy at times, not too much, but just enough that the balance between normal humor and ridiculous is like a tasty seasoning- too much would have ruined it.From the first scene readers are introduced to a ridiculously cute and funny story that has a complex plot, multiple surprises, and a certain depth that is usually not seen in a book labeled as ‘cute’. It’s got everything you could need- great characters that defy stereotypes, fantastic creatures, a surprising plot that you just can’t guess all the angles, spicy hot times, and eventually after lots of griping and cantankerous shenanigans - love. Darcy Stark is fantastic at narrating this story. No dry, dusty reading here! His with accents and clear character delineations are spot on so the listener knows who is talking at all times. The emotions are portrayed perfectly with no over-dramatization.

Funny, sweet, great world building

I love Meghan Maslow - she's always funny and clever, creates wonderfully imagined worlds, and her characters have a deep decency to them that makes them shine. Must Love Demons is all of this and made even better by Darcy Stark's excellent performance. An incubus who's all about love magically tied to a man who's convinced he's incapable of love, bedeviled by cherubs and other magical nuisances - so much fun. Highly recommend.

Absolutely adorable

This book was the first I've read of the Magic Emporium series and that just because I've enjoyed so many of Maslow's other works, and it was a joy from start to finish. Darcy Stark is a new performer to me, but I was delighted by both the gruffness and sweetness he brought to the story. I really enjoyed the slow burn - ahem - and all the magical twists and turns. looking forward to more of Meghan's books and others in this series!

Great

Meghan Maslow writes urban fantasy like no one else. Her stories are set in different worlds but still feel familiar. Must Love Demons is no different. It’s a detective story with a fantasy twist. I loved the unique take on an incubus as well.

Loved my entire time with this + AMAZING narrator

I havnt been this happy with a MM Romance book in a while. RECOMMEND HIGHLY THE AUDIBLE VERSION.

Honestly that voice actor hired to do the voices was so incredibly talented and did so much heavy lifting selling this story. What a fun range of voices too that it somewhat felt like a full cast. I loved the drama he'd put into everything too, the delivery really felt like a well done movie since it was combined with really great descriptive writing by the author. Seriously, amazing choice in voices, for example using this oh most like old masculine smokers voice for one of the Cherubs/Cupids totally sold it to me on what to imagine, loved it.

This was an absolute joy the whole way through and so well written. Not a moment went by without something either funny happening, character/relationship building occurring, world being fleshed out, sexy times happening or a fun fantasy mystery plot going on. This was really jammed packed with so much.

I loved these two main characters. They felt very unique to what I've typically seen in fantasy romance stories. I found the whole concept of a Incubus wanting to be a Cupid/Cherub because he had a birth defect essentially making his lust magic into love magic just so incredibly creative. I found the dynamic to be so interesting as the Phoenix he got paired up with struggles with resetting everyday bodily and mentally which makes it difficult to love. Like! How cool this author is to think up something like this and sell such a fun romance story off these character premises.

The sexy moments were also well paced and appropriately put in. I definitely enjoyed the juicy details and the relief of tension it all offered. Nothing was skimped on and it didn't overwhelm the overall book.

The plot was interesting too! I sometimes find plot ends up being background noise in a lot of these fantasy romance books but this definitely wasn't. The plot totally added to the world building moments and it was really fun seeing the world fleshed out through plot. I really enjoyed seeing this murder mystery situation unfold and some of the twists and turns of it. Although sometimes dark, I loved the self awareness of tropes and how the writing still found ways to keep things light and well humored. Honestly poor incubus losing his clothes whenever something dangerous happens haha.

This was just a joy. I finished this in one sitting because I just couldn't put it down.

Fantastic story and narration!!

Loved the story, the characters but the narration took it to a whole new level!
Darcy Stark is not new to me and have enjoyed his narrations, but this was a masterpiece of a performance! So many characters, so many voices and accents and not one misstep. He did a phenomenal job with Ms Maslow's book.
Needless to say, highly recommend!
