About this listen
Our children are a gift from God, but this gift also comes with an awesome responsibility. As parents, we are tasked with raising children who know how to love God, live righteously, and be productive members of society. This is no small task, and the work begins the moment a child enters into this world.
In My Child, Sara Woods addresses the common questions and difficulties that parents often encounter while rearing young children. As a mother of three, she recounts many of the experiences she had while raising her own young children and shares the wisdom she gleaned from those experiences. My Child lays out the tools parents need to raise confident children who refuse to bow to the pressures of a society that has become unmoored from Biblical truth, and who courageously stand athwart the culture by submitting themselves to the principles of God’s word.

Do you believe your struggle with anger stems from the wrong behavior you see displayed in your children? The knee-jerk reactions and blowups you're facing are often a result of a bigger set of "triggers". Some of these are external, like a child's disobedience, back talk, or selective hearing, while others are internal, like an overflowing schedule, sleep deprivation, or perhaps your own painful experiences from childhood.

Story
Loving Our Kids on Purpose combines the principles of the Kingdom of God and revival to form a powerful strategy for parents. Rather than the traditional approaches that train children to learn to accept being controlled by well-meaning parents and adults, this book teaches parents how to train children to manage their freedoms and protect their important heart-to-heart relationships. Children were designed with the core need of freedom. To deny this or live ignorant of it eventually destroys the trust connection between parent and child.

Love is important, but it is respect that is the key to your son's heart. The idea of moms respecting their sons may sound alien to some, but it seems to ignite curiosity across the board. It is easy to relate to the need for all of us to feel a mother's love, but is that the same thing as respect? Even for young boys, the effect of respect is nothing short of astounding when applied properly.

Motherhood is a challenge. Unfortunately, our worldly culture offers moms little in the way of real help. Mamas only connect to celebrate surviving another day and to share in their misery, rather than rejoice in what God has done and to build each other up in hard times. There has a be a better way, a biblical way, for mamas to grow and thrive. M Is for Mama offers advice, encouragement, and scripturally sound strategies seasoned with a little bit of humor to help you embrace the challenge of biblical motherhood and raise your children with love and wisdom.

If you're like many Christian moms today, you've been reading the headlines and watching the rapid-fire changes in our culture with frustration and fear. Let's face it: Moms today are facing questions that previous generations didn't even see coming, and even our right to determine what is best for our own children is under fire. Popular speaker and blogger Heidi St. John ("The Busy Mom") believes that today's mothers need a special kind of strength. We need to be strong in the Lord and in the power of his might.

Why do moms find themselves settling for a depleted and frustrated existence when motherhood is truly one of the greatest gifts from God? Being a mom is one of the most important-yet-difficult roles a woman will ever fill. Deep in their hearts, many women believe they are failing their families, are emotionally anemic, and are utterly helpless to maintain their peace while raising kids. As a result, hearts and homes are constantly defeated by the "peace pirates" that are allowed to take away the security God paid for His children to have.

Parenting isn't rocket science, it's just brain surgery. And Dr. Joshua Straub has good news for you: You can do it! You don't need to do all the "right" things as a parent. Both science and the Bible show us that the most important thing we can provide for our kids is a place of emotional safety. In other words, the posture from which we parent matters infinitely more than the techniques of parenting. Emotional safety - more than any other factor - is scientifically linked to raising kids who live, love, and lead well.

A Fun, Challenging Book About Parenting
I listened to the audiobook version of My Child. This book was especially fun for me because it is written & read by a friend of mine, who happens to also be a pastor's wife in the same town as me. Sara's joy in her life, in her children, & in Jesus comes through in the book, both in the content & the reading. It was a great reminder to me of how I need to be raising my children to be adults who can go into society & be successful. I took a lot of good advice away from it. Overall, a great read!

Such a helpful, applicable, and a very enjoyable read!!
I love the writing style used in the book ‘My Child’. It’s as though you’re sitting down with the author as she tells humorous family stories as well as the more serious trials she faced and overcame while raising her own children. An excellent book for anyone looking for a loving/ godly way to raise their children. Wether your child is younger or older you’re sure to find a gem with this book!!!

Solid truths!
Sarah Woods offers very solid, biblical truths with regard to parenting. Woods states very eloquently some hard to grasp concepts. I especially loved her word picture for what mercy and grace look like; comparing grace to a tool to utilize, and being responsible to put in the work.

Well worth to listen to!
This is a book to be recommended to any parent at any stage of life they may be in. What an incredible guide to raising children who are joyfully respectful of their parents and other figures of authority in their lives. The principles laid out in this book have been proven to work as is evidenced by the author’s own 3 adult children who are some of the most well liked, respectful and confident people I have met. Take the time to listen to, or read, this book. I will personally be referring back to the Godly advice given here, time and again, when I need wisdom for laying out expectations and discipline in my own home with my children.
