A wonderfully empowering book for parents

I felt this book to my core. It brought me back to my childhood when my mother was yelling at me and I remember how it made me feel.

I really liked the way this book presents another way of managing anger in our parenting journey. Too often we rely on our own strength, not remembering that there is another way to find rest from our struggles. What a beautiful idea it is to return to basics in the raising of our children.

Chapter 12 particularly appealed to me. It covers gratitude – a key attribute for optimum mental health and well-being. I feel that parents who listen to and heed the advice given in this wonderfully empowering book will incrementally improve the quality of life for their entire family.

Our Words and Actions Make All The Difference.

It’s a huge burden knowing that a parent's harmful words and discipline can cause a child to lean the wrong way in life. Thoughts about what our angry words do can leave us broken. Sin has entered the world, and nothing will ever be perfect, but we can lean on God who is never overwrought. I was an authoritative parent, but I was lacking in affection. It caused other problems. I also had my own issues. I was unaware and didn’t know myself. However, I love the Lord. He has given me all the time I need to correct my approach with my kids (now men). I was overwhelmed! It would have been nice if I had known then what I know now. I know that it doesn’t work that way, because I had to learn. Understand the turning point of your anger. I find that the meditative questions, which follow each chapter are extremely helpful even healing. This book goes over practical and Godly methods that can help parents to get it right.

Covers Every Basis in Love

I really loved this audiobook! The narrator had a maternal, caring quality to her voice that I found quite pleasant to listen to. So much was covered that I appreciated so much, like parenting style. There are the 'because I said so' parent', that may mean well but leave scars that will follow their child into adulthood. It taught, instead be the parent with communication, care and love.

Another part I really appreciated was with teaching our children to be independent in a healthy way. When they test us by saying that they can't do something; like not doing their own laundry, teach them to take care of themselves and gain confidence. Teri even gave advice on children with ADHD and how to lovingly meet their needs. She covered every basis with Christian values, I highly recommend!

Help kids love freely, share joy & live faithfully

Everything we do as parents in a kid's formative years counts. That's a scary thought because we are human and our occasional slip ups could cause irreparable damage. This book made me take life a bit slower and think about everything I do. I've considered the fact that I'm called to bring up children in the ways of the Lord, I've thought of my parenting style and contemplated the way of love. I feel very inadequate - but that's the thing - we are, unless God helps us. I'm grateful that this book reminded me of that.

Best parenting guide for parents

This book is amazing if you're looking to treat children without being angry. My most important thing that I have learnt is how to treat and manage young children in gathering without embarrassing them! Long time ago when I was a kid my parents never considered gentle parenting but now as a parent I believe that the parenting must be calm and gentle as it can greatly affect child.

The narrator also did a great job. The narrator's clear voice made it an easy book. This book is highly recommended

parent the right way!

Coming from a non-religious household, this was a very different perspective on parenting. Growing up, I got hit with a bamboo stick whenever my siblings and I acted out my parents would grow bamboo in the backyard. I remember throwing these sticks into my neighbor's yard or into the trash to avoid getting hit.

Needless to say, this book covers very different parenting styles than my parents had. I turned out pretty okay, nonetheless.
But needless to say, I will not raise my future children the same way my parents raised me- especially after listening to this audiobook.

To start, this audiobook will change the life of your children and your grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

I love how this book makes you look at yourself in the mirror and ask yourself the tough questions. It makes one recognize their faults and why they parent the way that they do and how to improve on some tough bad habits.

I also love the concept of healing your traumas before you raise your children with the same trauma. I think it's a BIG concept that new parents fail to realize so important. It's like entering a new relationship when you're still hooked up on your ex... a big NO-NO.

Regardless of your religious view, every parent can learn something valuable here!

Amazing!

I would love a follow along worksheet or notes that will help me map out my thoughts. I also pray for family night to become more of a priority!

A book for parents and Kids

This a good book with a lot of impact not only for parents but also for kids. This book serves as an eye opener for for all parents to see their flaws and figure out how to support your children. The author has done a good job and did take into consideration the kids that have disabilities. I will recommend this book to all parents.

Empowering and Life Changing

I listened to the book and took notes as I worked. Not only did I learn a LOT about myself and my path to Christ but I learned how each of my children require different approaches to discipline, their love languages are similar but not the same, and how I can better my parenting style to help them “become good humans” (that’s what we call it in our house)
