About this listen

Narration by Sarah Puckett and Jason Clarke.

Darling Arrow,

I shouldn’t be writing this.

It’s not as if I’m ever going to send you this letter, and there are a million reasons why.

First of all, I was sent to this reform school as a punishment for a petty, totally inconsequential crime. Not to ogle the principal’s hot son around the campus.

Second of all, you’re a giant jerk. You’re arrogant and moody and so cold. Sometimes, I think I shouldn’t even like you.

But strangely, your coldness sets me on fire.

The way your athletic body moves on the soccer field and the way your powerful thighs sprawl across that motorcycle of yours make me go inappropriately breathless.

But that’s not the worst part. The worst part is that you, Arrow Carlisle, are not only the principal’s hot son. You also happen to be the love of my sister’s life.

And I really shouldn’t be thinking about my sister’s boyfriend or rather fiancé (I overheard a conversation about the ring that I shouldn’t have).

Now, if I can only stop writing you these meaningless letters that I’ll never send, and you’ll never read.

Never yours,

Salem

Saint Mary's Rebels

My Darling Arrow (Saint Mary's Rebels #1) is lovestory about unrequited love with a all girls boarding school world with a forbidden romance trope and dabbles in a bit of sports. I absolutely loved the poetic letters written by Salem to Arrow. I wasn't a fan of Salem's sister Sarah and she never redeemed herself. Arrow's character was complex and I wish the author dove deeper into his personality. Salem's inner turmoil and thoughts were well vocalized. A new adult novel, first in the series and introduces other supportimg female characters in the school who will get have own book. I absolutely loved the epilogue. Looking forward to listening to the next audio in this series when available.

Jason Clarke, Sarah Puckett dual naration brought out the melancholy and beautiful heartbreaker of a romance. Uttlerly seductive and sensuous intonation of Sarah Puckett was perfect. Jason Clarke's deep baritone inflection is perfect for choice as Arrow. A flawless performance by two favorites.

Female narrator brought out all the feels!

I freaking loved this book the first time I read it. Listening to the audio version was basically like getting to read it again for the first time. All those feels, all of Salem's love... Sarah Puckett brought it all and made me fall in love with this story even more than I already had the first time.

Arrow and Salem's story is everything! Possibly my favorite Saffron A. Kent book to date. I can't even with how amazing this book is and how much I love going back to it and recommending it. It's beautiful. The author's words are beautiful, flowing like poetry, bleeding from the heart of a lovesick schoolgirl.

And the letters... this is me unalived by how much I loved them. They were a huge part of what made this story so perfect. I never wanted them to end. I need an annual newsletter or short story or something that gives me more of them because I think I'll always be addicted.

Not such a bad girl after all!

To say I loved My Darling Arrow, would be putting it mildly. Saffron Kent knows how to write an unbelievable unique story line, with a damaged hero and hella quirky heroine. The narrators were beyond perfect.

Saffron packed so much into this story. You have a little sister in love with her older sisters boyfriend, coach/player relationship, reformed school aka bad girl and a bit of an age gap. So many goodies so little time. All of the various forbidden aspects made the story so deliciously doomed for destruction.

We have Arrow that is so use to being perfect and having everything in his life perfectly balanced (OCD people unite), that when something outside the lines he has crafted occurs he is unable to handle it. Salem on the other hand is everything but put together. A bad girl/anti rule follower. She brings chaos into Arrow’s life and the result of that can only be described as beautiful. The pure utter devotion and love Salem has for Arrow, even though she has ever known him from afar, is so painfully to read to times knowing the debt of her feelings. Watching him finally take notice of her had my tummy clenching with nerves and anxiety, right along side Salem.

I loved having a bit of soccer thrown into the story. Especially getting to see how the drive and passion fueled Arrow and Salem. The reformed school of St. Mary’s made everything feel even more forbidden and against the rules.

Saffron’s crafting of words and characters is unlike anything you will read. I need more from these St. Mary Rebels. And on another note, my lipstick collection is severely lacking.

Witchy book

As usual a Saffron book is full of steaminess and dirty talking alphas that make you swoon. She loves her age gaps where the heroine is significantly younger than the hero. This book is no exception.

There are some differences in this book though that are worth note. The heroine was really weak and sadly a doormat with a lot of self deprecating descriptions of herself that begin with the word "witchy" witchy eyes, witchy ways, witchy hair, witchy pu... LOL Her sister and parents did a number on her self esteem and make her feel less than but apparently very witchy!

Speaking of her sister, she is in love with her sister's boyfriend Arrow of the Darling Arrow claim to fame. She has been in love with him or something like love since she was a child which poses a problem since she is such a witchy girl (insert smirk here). This love doesn't sit right with her until she learns about Arrow and her witchy with a B sister's relationship with Arrow.

Arrow is a soccer player who doesn't believe in breaking the rules and will except nothing but perfection. How then can he be attracted to this "witchy" girl and why can't he keep his perfect paws off of her.

It is fun listening to them struggle to stay away from each other if fun is another word for frustrating and well insane.

This is indeed a sexy read as we would expect but it would have been even better if our "witchy" heroine were a bit more mature and had more self esteem.

The narration was really good as one might expect from the sexy throated Jason Clarke and Sarah Puckett!

Overall it was an enjoyable listen.

An Angsty AgeGap Romance

This is a forbidden, opposites attract,Slow-burn, age-gap, sports romance. If you want a super angsty romance that will shred your heart and put it back together, this book is for you! I love saffrons worldbuilding and writing style. Shes one of my favorite authors, and she hit this book out of the park. And the narrators did an amazing job and were the best people to play Salem and Arrow, they really brought these characters to life!

Beautiful Story!

My Darling Arrow is a beautifully written forbidden romance. Salem and Arrow's story is intense, slow paced, and emotional. They are opposites attract, and they share a strong chemistry. Arrow is a perfect anti-hero, alpha, cold, arrogant, and commanding. His story intrigued me. Salem is a wonderful character. She is young, and she is unsecure. Turns out she is strong, selfless, caring, supportive, and determined. I liked her. I loved to follow them in their journey. The story is told with both POV, which is great. I love the ending. This is a beautiful story. Jason Clarke and Sarah Puckett did a great job with the narration. I read it before, and I enjoyed the audiobook version.

Wow! ♡

I can't even begin to tell how this book griped my heart. A slow BURN Rollercoaster ride. Salem has an unhealthy obsession with Arrow but, he has one with perfection and Soccer. Both Salem and Arrow are perfect for eachother. Both mentally abused by his Mom and her Sister. He's angry She's lovesick, they find comfort and understanding between the two. But will their love survive each others obsessions?

Good story!

I loved the voices of the narrators. They do a great job telling the story. The story itself is good but more for a teenager to read.
