Publisher's summary

His touch is her sin.
Her love is his salvation.

“J. Kenner knows how to deliver a tortured alpha that everyone will fall for hard. Saint is exactly the sinner I want in my bed.” (Laurelin Paige, New York Times best-selling author)

"I went into this story thinking that J. Kenner could not create a better place than Stark World.... But boy was I wrong. From the very first interaction with Devlin the reader becomes instantly aware of the character's power and grace. With a plot that kept on changing and an awesome connection between Ellie and Devlin, J. Kenner has once again proved her writing skills with masterful story telling." (The Overflowing Bookcase)

Charismatic. Confident. Powerful. Controlling.

A brilliant investor with a Midas touch, Devlin Saint turned a modest inherited fortune into billions, and now operates one of the world’s foremost international philanthropic organizations. He’s a man determined to help the underprivileged, to fight injustice, and to make the world a better place. And that, at least is true.

It’s not, however, the full truth.

Because Devlin Saint is a man with a dangerous secret. One he’ll do whatever it takes to protect. And when investigative reporter Ellie Holmes turns her attention to an unsolved murder, she finds herself caught in a web of intrigue and passion as Devlin draws her closer and closer. But as the intensity and sensuality of their relationship grows, so do Ellie’s suspicions. Until she is no longer certain if the heat between her and Devlin is real, or only a facade he constructed to hide his dark and twisted secrets.

Don’t miss this provocative first book in a brand-new trilogy....

I really enjoyed this book!

Excellent narration brings these characters alive with their own distinct voices. Devlin and Ellie have a complicated past and more complex future if they’ll only give themselves a chance to face their demons together. I can’t wait to get to the next installment of their stories. This is a second chance at love story that gives you a taste that there is more to Devin Saint. He admits as much to Ellie, but keeps so many cards close to his chest. Both of them have suffered and survived loss and tragedy... learning to trust, even each other, will take them to discover who they are as adults.

Good start to the trilogy.

I had high expectations for this new trilogy from J Kenner as I am a huge fan of her Stark International series. So far I am loving the new characters and the complex storyline introducing us to this new world she is building. There are twists and turns, some expected some not so much, plenty of heat and all the feels you expect from J Kenner. Veronica Worthington did a great job as Ellie but I had trouble with some of her male voices and wished she had more distinct voices for the other characters. I would have liked to have Devlin’s POV as well with a male narrator and I am glad that the next two books have that with Lance Greenfield. All in all a good start to this new trilogy. On to book 2.

Wow…. J Kenner is so creative!!!

This book is excellent. It’s another J Kenner book that I enjoyed tremendously. I love mystery and intrigue.. and I love romance.. so what better than when they are combined.

Devlin Saint…. Mysterious, dangerous, sexy… and exactly who you think he is…. It is he!?

Ellie fell in love with a boy at a young age, Alex, and he broke her when he left her without even a goodbye. She’s back in that town to do an interview with Devlin Saint, but also to find out more about who killed her uncle.

The chemistry between Ellie and Devljn is off the charts…. And so excellent to listen to! Veronica Worthington did an amazing job with the narration.

Boring

I may have finished the book if the author used different voices for the characters. It was the same voice for everyone and it was somewhat confusing at times trying to figure out who was talking.

Devlin and Ellie

I didn’t hate this story but at the same time I didn’t love it. Devlin and Ellie have a past. He spends the majority of this story pushing her away. Honestly I didn’t feel the chemistry or connection between them. This was a very slow moving story that ends with a cliffhanger.

Different Narration would have made this book a 5

I love every book I have ever listened to from J. Kenner but this one just never got to me. I finished it and will give book 2 the chance. I think it was the narration that just didn’t give the magic to the words she wrote. I think a different female narrator and a dual narration for Devlin character with a strong male lead would have me giving this all 5 stars.
