About this listen

The man who should have been there to help protect me, love me, and teach me about life did the opposite. I was told to keep quiet and not tell anyone our secret. A secret that filled me with fear and shame.
I was sexually abused from ages five to twelve.

I’m glad that when the abuse did come to light the mother stood behind her. Wow - can’t even imagine how confusing this was to you.

so many people sexually abused and never talk about it. why would they? it is embarrassing and shameful. Felicia allowed us to see that vulnerable side of her, the inner child that was killed the day she was abused. Abuse victims are not alone in their mental anguish and she genuinely puts her emotions out there for all to see. Sexual abuse is wrong, period. it is not the fault of the abused person yet they are filled with shame and guilt. Speaking up and speaking out brings healing. it also can bring light to how often abuse occurs. Those who abuse children should be held accountable for their actions. Very emotional read. Thank you Felicia for writing this. You are helping so many people you don't know to remove the stigma of speaking up about sexual abuse.

The constant mental war of abuse

As a victim myself I know how hard it is to speak out on the abuse. Family members and others refuse to believe the child, causing the victim to clam up, they feel alone and fearful of repercussions of them telling the secret!

The truth.

I enjoyed the story of this woman’s strength. It’s hard to believe that so many adults, especially her mother did not recognize that she was being sexually abused. I am glad that she overcame the monster and was able to live a fulfilling life. I did not enjoy the narration done by a virtual voice.

Such a strong woman!

Sad and gross beginning of the story. Glad to know that her prep’ was caught and prosecuted. Happy that her and husband were able to reunite later on.
One and only dislike was, the many times the word “daddy” was used.
Over all, a good listen.
