About this listen

The heartbreaking yet inspiring account of a young girl who suffered at the hands of nuns in the Nazareth House Convent in Northern Ireland.

Frances Reilly and her sisters were abandoned by their mother outside Nazareth House Convent - a Belfast orphanage run by nuns. Little did they know the unimaginable cruelty they'd endure within its walls.

Frances suffered horrifically at the hands of the Sisters: brutally beaten, worked like a slave, abused and molested, the convent regime stripped her of everything - education, innocence, and childhood. But the hope of rescue or escape never left her.

Years later, Frances would face her demons in court, bringing to account those who so viciously stole her youth. Suffer the Little Children is a gripping and moving story of one child's spirit of survival.

Contains mature themes.

Excellent book. Very sad what happens in the world that we are oblivious to it all.

Frances Reilly is not only a courageous and talented woman! She’s a hero! To all the unfortunate girls that came into care after she came forward shining a light on the wicked secrets that those horrible nuns thought they had locked up in secrecy! Making it impossible for the nuns to continue to abuse and torture these poor trapped girls entrusted in their care, through no fault of their own! Its an excellent example showing that you can never leave a system to go without checks and balances! No matter how respectable and God fearing (not) the person in charge appears to be! The power these miserable nuns wielded, giving them the ability to abuse these girls is horrifying! The Catholic Church has a lot of answering to do, still! And I hope we never forget these valuable lessons in humanity that Frances Reilly is teaching us!
I thank God for Frances! And wish her only the very best! For her and all those that she loves and holds dear! What a brave soul! And shining example she is! What a gift to us all!
Also excellent narration by Emma Lowe! Very talented! Made listening a pleasure!

I could not stop listening to this book! It especially hit me as I grew up in a town close to Belfast in the 60’s and 70’s and attended catholic schools. The nuns could be mean but I never experienced that level of horrific abuse. God bless all those poor children.

Thank you for sharing your childhood journey. I grew up Catholic and knew the nuns to be mean spirited but clearly they were a mentally disturbed clan.

Terrifying childhood.

Once again it was difficult listening to the hell that innocent little children were raised in. All the adults were supposed to protect them are the monsters that harmed them. I pray that you have had a good adult life and that the Deon’s that tortured you will all burn in hell for all eternity.

Such a tragic story

A childhood filled with sickening and vile abuse. The narration was absolute perfection. The story made my stomach ache, I often weeped openly. I could not stop listening. God bless all that have been through this. May the perpetrators burn in Hell!
