The action was non-stop straight to the end. One minute, I thought I knew who had done it, and the next, I was thinking something else. Well written with wonderful complex characters. Excellent story.

Very Entertaining!

Mysterious Abduction is the first book in Rita Herron ‘s newest series. I like the way the publisher’s summary sets up this novel. It gives just the gist with out spelling out the entire story.
The protagonist (Cora Reeves) gives birth and has a few moments with her newborn. The infant is then taken to the nursery and Cora falls asleep. She’s woken by the fire alarm and ushered out to the street where she looks for the babies from the nursery. When she finds the bassinet with her daughter’s name on it, she finds it’s empty. Hers is the only one missing. What she doesn’t know is whether the kidnapping was planned or random. Either way she’s determined to find her daughter but after six years she sees her daughter in every little girl.
Steve Campbell does an excellent job narrating.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Over The Top

I will start by saying the narration by Steve Campbell was fine. My primary issue was the plot was drawn out and unrealistic at times. A mother has lost her newborn baby when a raging fire overtakes the hospital and her daughter is abducted. Some five years later, Cora Reeves is still looking for her daughter at the expense of her job, her former husband, and, at times her own sanity.

Enter Sheriff Maverick who has a thing for Cora and takes on the task of continuing the search for the abducted baby. There are a few twists and turns as the story reaches the end. Also, there is an unnecssary chapter that approaches soft core pornography as Maverick and Cora finally get together. I am no prude, but this was just not an expected addition. It may work for others, but not for me.

Meh

Part of me liked the book. However, it was very predictable and frustrating. I prefer romantic crime dramas that are more realistic. I've read other books of hers that I really liked and had me guessing.

Spoiler Alert: For example, in this book the sherrif took the school teacher on his investigation questioning witnesses and searching locations for evidence. The sheriff's FBI brother who freely talked about ongoing investigations with her.
