About this listen

Some of the most visited national parks in the country have a dark side.

Aside from crowds of hikers, campers, and general tourists, there's a dark side to many that can be found in the great states of Oregon, Washington and Idaho. From strange disappearances, grisly murders and bone-chilling paranormal hauntings and ghost sightings, these pristine locales have a lot more to offer than just serene hiking trails or camping. In this third installment of National Park Mysteries & Disappearances, Steve Stockton, along with Bill Melder, presents the listener with a side to these locations you've never heard before.

So, put aside your nature guidebooks, forget about the pretty leaves, and the relaxing streams as well as the miniature golf, the funnel cakes and all the other "tourist traps" and prepare for a wild ride on the dark side of these major national parks.

3rd Book in Series, Covers Pacific NW

This is an interesting new series of books about National Park mysteries and disappearances. Many people go missing in the parks and this is an unofficial account of recently missing people in specific parks as well as some haunted locations in the areas. This book focuses on the Pacific Northwest parks of Oregon, Washington and Idaho. The disappearances are baffling, though a few have been found. Each park has a brief bio and the accounts of the recently missing, followed by a section on haunted locations. It will make you think twice about going in the woods. The new audiobook version accompanies the ebook. The narrator keeps a great tone for the book.

Very Interesting Tales of Disappearances

The tales of mysterious disappearances were good, the ghosts were meh. The narrator is not very good.

Interesting!

Very interesting tales of mystery missing persons cases. I do wish some of the cases had a little more detail or not so brief and would love for the book to have many more cases. At 1st I didn’t care for the narration however with some time I have found that
His narration did grow on me.

Just touches the surface.

This book is full of shallowness, conjecture and sensationalism. It would have been so much better to have offered more facts.

The author's voice

It probably is just me, but his voice makes it easy to listen and understand. I have subscribed to many podcasts only to un-subscribe because their voice is irritating to me. I could hear their breathing in between sentences, voices too high, too low, etc. His voice is like baby bear and the porridge. It is just right.

The information was interesting

Listening on Audible, i enjoyed the detailed information, but all addresses and phone numbers became a little tedious.

Avoid this

The author just lists details like name, where they weee last seen, etc., no attempt to provide more. Narrator has a cadence in his reading that gets annoying.
