Publisher's summary

In the “intense and captivating” (Kirkus Reviews) conclusion to the New York Times best-selling Diabolic series, the Empire teeters on the edge of destruction as rumors spread that Nemesis is still alive.

Three years ago, Tyrus Domitrian shocked the galaxy by killing the woman he swore to love forever. The woman for whom he upended the Empire. The woman with whom he wanted to build a new and brighter future.

Now, the once-idealistic heir apparent has become the cruel Emperor Tyrus, wielding his authority with an iron fist, capable of destroying planets with a single word, controlling all technology with a simple thought. He has bent the Grandiloquy to their knees, and none have the power to stand against him.

But there is a muttering among the Excess. They say that Nemesis is not truly gone. They whisper of her shadow spotted in distant star systems. They say that Nemesis lives. That she will rise and rally the people to topple the man who was once her truest love - and is now her fiercest enemy.

Beautifully ended- Sorta?

Although I crave just one more chapter, like a closing statement, this final book in the series was amazing. I wish to know more about various characters towards the end, but I suppose their can't be that much of a fairytale ending.

There were some lengthy bits in there that seemed unnecessary, but overall felt good. I only have an issue over the final two chapters. Everything leading up to it was fine, great build up, had me in suspense. Yet, for how everything was handled, it almost felt rushed. A couple more pages could have made this a 5 star. But the ending just.. Didn't settle well with me.

Satisfying end to the trilogy

I'll start by saying the narrator really brought this book to life. There were so many different characters and each one had a distinctive quality to their tone and speech pattern, so much so, that you knew exactly who was speaking at all times and it stayed consistent throughout all three books. This book gave me everything I feel a trilogy should give, it brought every single characters story arc over the previous two books to a satisfying end. All questions answered, they stayed true to their personalities even in the harshest situations and didn't suddenly develop the perfect set of skills or mindset just to further the story. I was very pleased with how it ended and although I hate to see a great book end, when it does so in a way that gives the proper closure to characters you've come to know so well over the course of the storyline, it makes it all worthwhile.

I enjoyed this story.

The narrator was great! I enjoyed that there was more humor in the final story.

The Grandiloquy remind me of Trump supporters🤣

I waited so long for this book, it was so worth the wait🥰. This trilogy is in my top 5.

Nice ending—a little long.

My least favorite of the three pat series. I enjoyed the wrap-up of the story. The last third of the book moved well, but the first 2/3 seemed to drag for me.

Haunting

The story is complex and layered and you might not even realize that you are crying.

Great conclusion

I have loved this trilogy from the moment I first met Nemesis! I love the narrator, the way she delivers Nemesis’s lines is absolutely perfect! Without giving too much away, I would give this book 10 stars if I could!

disappointing series finale

without giving too much away my biggest problem with this book was the characters are flat and the plot dull.

lame ending

How many times can an author use the same tactics? The chapter dies...no, not really. Then, another character dies. By the end, I was just glad I made it through.
