About this listen

From best-selling author Melanie A. Smith comes the first book in a new series of steamy contemporary medical romance standalone novels about life lessons that break all the rules.

Some lessons are more fun when learned the hard way....

What’s the first rule of nurse’s club? That’s right: Never date a doctor. Which Sasha Suvorin has no intention of doing anyway, since she’s a nurse at Rutherford Hospital by day and working on her master’s degree by night. Who has time for dating, much less dating someone you work with? Bad idea much?

That is, until the sexy British Dr. Caleb Thompson starts at her hospital. It also doesn’t help that he’s exactly her type with his dark hair, blue eyes, and rockin’ bod. Or that he’s not your typical arrogant and bossy surgeon. But Sasha isn’t so easily convinced, and she soon discovers Dr. Hottie has a past that puts a stop to whatever she might have been feeling before anything ever starts between them.

Unfortunately, working together means facing temptation. Every. Single. Day. Is Sasha strong enough to resist what might just be the perfect man? And if she gives in, will Cal’s past stay in the past? Sasha may be used to playing it safe, but life has a way of teaching its lessons...one way or another.

Enjoyable story.

I really enjoyed this story. It has light moments, drama, and a HEA. The ending was a bit rushed. Would have been nice to have an epilogue.

A short, cute and sweet HEA novel!

Never Date a Doctor, A Life Lessons Novel by Melanie A. Smith was a nice, quick and entertaining novel with believable good and bad characters and a storyline that kept you listening. This is the story of Sasha, a nurse and the new doctor Caleb, whom Sasha feels like she's met before. Of course she quickly learns that there's no way that they could have met all those years ago, but she definitely feels an attraction to him, even though the rule is to never date a doctor. Not everyone is happy that Dr. Caleb seems to like Sasha either and decides to get Sasha out of the way. This story will keep you listening, age to see what happens next. I definitely recommend it and would love to listen to more from this author!

Rachel Woods and Jake Bordeaux both did a great job narrating this story. Their voices lent to the characters and the overall enjoyment of the story. Great story!

This was such a great story! I really liked both Sasha and Cal, although there was one moment where I didn’t like Cal very much. The narrators were very good, but the British accent for Cal was a bit off or shaky at times. Otherwise, this was fantastic!

fast-paced romance that keeps you invested

I originally read Bad Boys Don't Make Good Boyfriends first, and because I couldn't connect with the characters very well, I went back to read this one. This made it a lot easier to connect to and like the characters. This was a fast-paced read that kept me on the edge of my seat waiting for more. I found this one to be a lot easier to invest myself in to, as Sasha and Caleb had such strong chemistry; I adored their relationship.

I really like Melanie's writing style, and I'm already reading some more of her works, but I'll still make sure to check more out. If you're open to/like steamier romance novels, you'll love this one. Likewise, if you like work-place romance, this is the book for you.

I read the first half in e-book format, then received an audio code from Melanie and switched to that. I did keep the e-book open while I was listening to make sure I focused on the story, though. The narrators' voices were pretty much on point with how I imagined the characters.

Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book via the author. This did not influence my opinion in any way.
