Never Ever Getting Back Together by nationally and internationally-bestselling and Indie Next Pick author Sophie Gonzales.

“Wickedly funny [and] searingly sexy.”—Kelly Quindlen, author of She Drives Me Crazy

It’s been two years since Maya's ex-boyfriend cheated on her, and she still can’t escape him: his sister married the crown prince of a minor European country and he captured hearts as her charming younger brother. If the world only knew the real Jordy, the manipulative liar who broke Maya’s heart.

Skye Kaplan was always cautious with her heart until Jordy said all the right things and earned her trust. Now his face is all over the media and Skye is still wondering why he stopped calling.

When Maya and Skye are invited to star on the reality dating show Second-Chance Romance, they’re whisked away to a beautiful mansion—along with four more of Jordy’s exes—to compete for his affections while the whole world watches. Skye wonders if she and Jordy can recapture the spark she knows they had, but Maya has other plans: exposing Jordy and getting revenge. As they navigate the competition, Skye and Maya discover that their real happily ever after is nothing they could have scripted.

Critic reviews

"Employing hilariously biting alternating perspectives and a cast populated by strongly characterized female heroines and deliciously despicable reality TV villains, Gonzales expertly taps into contemporary society’s Bachelor obsession to deliver a smart rom-com with a twist.” Publishers Weekly, starred review

“Wickedly funny [and] searingly sexy... Gonzales has written an incisive reflection on the thin line between love and hate. Don’t let this one get away.” —Kelly Quindlen, author of She Drives Me Crazy

"A fun, fast-paced enemies-to-lovers romcom, full of banter and heart... queer love and teen girls you can’t help but cheer for. This book gets my final rose and all the ones before it." —Jenn Dugan, author of Some Girls Do

LOVED THIS SO MUCH.

I’m not a romance reader at all but I still loved it so much. The performance is incredible and the story is perfect and I can die happy now

So good!

Super fun premise with the reality show storyline, and very well-done. Narration was great and the story was top-notch! I felt like the stakes and drama was believable and the enemies-to-lovers romance also felt earned. Highly recommend!

It started great but...

The overall premise of the book is great. I will never get tired of a good enemies to lovers story. Throw in reality tv and wlw and I'm sold. However, there were certain pacing issues and characters that completely took me out of it.

*SPOILER WARNING*

Skye for instance, was an extremely grating, confusing and hypocritical character. When we're introduced to her, she's self righteous and insensitive. For whatever reason, she could not seem to fathom how the person that ghosted her and triggered her abandonment issues could be a cheater and not the best human being lol. But when Maya tells her about the revenge plan, we're suddenly supposed to believe she's this logical, cool, calm and collected mastermind that can read people? The romance made her bearable for a few chapters, but then she was back to being insensitve and only seeing things her way. Her not being open to a relationship and then selfishly expecting Maya to drop all of her plans when she decided she was ready was extremely was hard to listen to. And when Maya finally chose her near the end, she was still being pessimistic about long distance. I can tell she was written to be this cool, perpetually indifferent and logical character but her actions just did not match and it infuriated me lol.

Aside from Skye being insufferable, I think there were a few moments in the book that dragged and I think the slow burn could've been a bit slower. Maya's attraction for Skye wasn't really mentioned before she revealed that she wanted to kiss her. And their first kiss was a bit abrupt.

On a positve note, Maya was a great character. Flawed but someone you wanted to root for. She was also the comedic relief in the book and made a lot of the characters bearable. Ultimately, it was fine but my expectations were much higher and Skye as a character was a let down.

I loved everything about this book

It was such a well written, beautifully performed, tantalizing love story. I could not stop listening and I smiled the entire way. Loved all the adventures, the slow burn romance, and the personal growth. Blessed!

loved it

this book was so good! i love wlw books, but they often don’t have much plot besides the relationship. i enjoyed that this one had plenty of wlw content tied into another plot line. also, the jordy accent, especially at the end, sounds like draco malfoy lol

This was painful to get through 😣

A reality tv show about teenagers fighting over the same guy? Their biggest worries in life being about social media followers or whether they really want to go to college next year. Where are their parents? Haha It was the cringiest thing. I’ve never wanted to quit a book so bad, but I already paid for it so here we are..
