About this listen

After my mate rejected me, I wanted to kill him. Instead, I ran away - which nearly killed me....

A year ago, everything was different. I had just left my home, joining the infamous Mountainside Pack. The daughter of an omega wolf, I've always been prized - but not as prized as I would be if my new packmates found out my secret.

But when my fated mate - Mountainside's Alpha - rejected me in front of his whole pack council and my secret got out, I realized I had one choice. Going lone wolf was the only option I had, and I took it.

Now I live in Muncie, hiding in plain sight. If the wolves ever left the mountains surrounding the city, I'd be in big trouble. Good thing that the truce between the vampires and my people is shaky at best and Muncie? It's total vamp territory. Thanks to my new vamp roomie, I get a pass, and I try to forget all about the call of the wolf. It's tough, though. I...I just can't forget my embarrassment - and my anger - from that night.

And then he shows up and my chance at forgetting flies out the damn window.

Ryker Wolfson. He was supposed to be my fated mate, but he chose his pack over our bond. At least, he did - but now that he knows what I've been hiding, he wants me back.

But doesn't he remember?

I told him I'll never be his mate, and there isn't a single thing he can do to change my mind.

To Ryker, that sounds like a challenge. And if there's one thing I know about wolf shifters, it's that they can never resist a challenge.

Just like I'm finding it more difficult than I should to resist him....

I just can't get how a strong women who is supposed to be Alpha female, trained in fighting be so stupid and unaware! This book I want to trade back, not too good at all!

Repetitive Story

The author repeats over and over again same thing different ways almost every chapter. You hear I lov3 him but he hurt me every chapter, and then oh I do care but he hurt me with. it was hard to listen to. Then book ends and the Author expects me to want to go though skipping over her obsessive repeats again. ya no thanks. Could have been a really kick ass story If not for the repeats.
I did however like the voice of the audible.

Great plot but irritating main characters

As stated in the title the plot is great but I really had a hard time liking the main characters. First of all Gemma and Ryker are both conceited, arrogant, and lack emotional intelligence. I hate storylines in which the majority of the angst can be solved with simple communication. If Ryker knew she was an alpha female all this time and it was clear she was faking being an omega he could have talked to her before she came to his pack. Instead he brings her to his pack and commences to avoid her, give her the impression he is sleeping with Trish, then basically rejects her in front of his main pack members and doesn’t think as an alpha female she wouldn’t react. He is stupid. I honestly never liked him throughout.

I am not letting Gemma off so easy either. She doesn’t listen and kept coming to the same conclusion multiple times without actually understanding what was going on. I didn’t like her either. Maybe I am used to the tortured and abused female who is all submissive and lacks self confidence then once she is rejected she finds her inner strength trope. Because her self confidence about being an alpha female was irritating. I found myself saying “Yes, yes you are the great Gem we all bow down to you except you are still a mess without the man you love doing the same”.

Now for the narration. I think it would have been better using multiple points of view. At least Ryker’s and maybe Alexander’s because listening to Gemma drone on and on was exhausting. I kept thinking she talks too damn much but the story is told from her point of view. I only pushed through because I wanted to see how they would eventually resolve their conflict and what does the author do - end on a cliffhanger.

I can’t take another audio version of this story especially from Gemma’s point of view. If my irritation wanes then maybe I will read the other books in the series then I can skim through when Gemma starts repeating how great she as an alpha female.

Overall good.

The main character. Well the way she is written isn’t my fav. Too much of the overthinking. Yes…That is real life. But that not why I read/listen to books. I can relate to a point but at some point I just increase the speed of narration to hurry through. At some point I just roll my eyes cause ‘we know!!!’ Get on with it. I enjoyed the main points and where it’s going. But… I don’t think I will go with the rest of the series. I do want to know what happens but I don’t think I can handle being in the main characters thoughts that much.

Book 1 was good

Struggled to like the main character at times. She has a pity me personality. She doesn't stop to let other people explain, and honestly acts like a teenage brat (she's in her 20s) The narrator is AMAZING though and helps you push through the points where it gets tough. All the other characters are great though. Worth the listen, BUT I can't push past book 2. It was WAY too repetitive. It repeats everything that happened in book one, so half the time I felt like I was re-listening to book one all over again.

It was okay

It’s redundant often, no closure really and kinda felt blah as far as the story line goes. I don’t think I’d pay for the next book personally. If you like slow typical miscommunication based stories with no communication at all until the end. This is it.
