About this listen

New York Times best-selling author Nelson DeMille does it again with Elite Anti-terrorist Task Force Agents John Corey and Kate Mayfield discovering corruption deep in the FBI and they set out to find the truth.

On a Long Island beach at dusk, Bob Mitchell and Janet Whitney conduct their illicit love affair in front of a video camera, set to record each steamy moment. Suddenly a terrible explosion lights up the sky. Grabbing the camera, the couple flees as approaching police cars speed toward the scene. Five years later, the crash of Flight 800 has been attributed to a mechanical mal-function.

But for John Corey and Kate Mayfield, both members of the Elite Anti-terrorist Task Force, the case is not closed. Suspecting a cover-up at the highest levels and disobeying orders, they set out to find the one piece of evidence that will prove the truth about what really happened to Flight 800-the videotape that shows a couple making love on the beach and the last moments of the doomed airliner.

Where's the ending?

Enjoyed the story but was disappointed in ending, unless it was setting you up for another book continuing the story line.

Spa Music Background

Background music and sound effects are so distracting. Almost gave up. Will not listen to any more that have that added. Part of the enjoyment in reading a book is imagining the scene. Sound effects .... C-

Excellent book!

Ok, so I was a little skeptical to read this book after the reviews saying good book but bad ending. Well, let me tell you, the ending was perfect (or at least it was very fitting). I cried a bit, I’m man enough to admit that. Without giving anything away, if you think outside the box a little, you will understand it had to happen that way. Not everything can have the happy American ending where everything works out. It’s not real. Besides, the journey of this book, seeing Corey work, was a pleasure to go on. It brought back a lot of memories for this retired Navy vet who lived through ALL the events of this book. Just saying.

Another Homerun

I was wondering how the author was to end the book,he made it thrilling and somber at the same time, Another audible book by DeMille that kept me on the edge of my seat and intrigued. Loved the narrator; I'm certainly glad the author continues to have him read.

Great story

Great told story I love how Nelson incorporates excerpts from his other books characters into the shadow. It’s really refreshing.

Truly captivating

I couldn’t stop with this one! It was captivating from beginning to end. The characters were brought to life so beautifully, and it was such a well written book. On top of that, the narration was exactly what it should be. Bravo on all accounts!
