About this listen

For two old friends with so much to hide, playing catch-up is a dangerous game in a propulsive novel of suspense by the author of Mother of All Secrets.

Writer Carrie Colts hopes a move to Montauk will be a rejuvenating change of pace for her family. The last thing she expects to see is her former college roommate on her doorstep. Newly widowed, and with a daughter of her own, Maya would love to reconnect. As a gesture to an old friend in mourning, Carrie extends an invitation to stay. Just for a few days. After all, there are reasons that Carrie and Maya are estranged.

Carrie soon regrets her impulsive offer. Someone has taken a pair of scissors to her college yearbook. Her herb garden is destroyed. She’s starting to receive sinister texts. And Maya is making herself a little too much at home. What does Maya really want? What is she hiding? Carrie’s afraid to ask. Because Maya knows all her secrets, and exposing them comes with a price Carrie can’t afford to pay.

The surprising reveal at the end

It was an original story of friendship. I would have liked for the author to wrap it up with a more definite ending.

You think you know but you don’t

Great story. Love the plots twists. Narration was perfect. I was looking for books similar to Frieda McFadden since I’ve read them all, and this author is just what I was looking for!

Great story and narration but…

Thoroughly enjoyed this book the story the characters and the narrator was great. I was surprised at pretty much every turn. my only dissatisfaction was at the ending I thought that it should have followed through to bring the husband back into it realizing that the girl was his daughter.

Some twists and turns in the life of friends

Well written and executed story of friendship and lies.....but not sure of the ending - felt something was missing ......I guess that's why I'm not an author. Enjoyable listen......and I was constantly waiting for the twists and turns and what would happen next.

Decent

The story itself was a good idea but I felt like the main character never figured out how needy and self-absorbed she was. The friend should have been more straight forward. I didn’t think it was very believable.

Thoroughly enjoyed!!

This book made me FEEL, all the feels. Really enjoyed the character progression. Loved the story and twists. It’s a bit of a slow burn but so worth it at the end.

Riveting

This was a well constructed story of long held secrets in a few different ways, it was a little annoying the husband was clueless throughout the story I wish he had been more involved other than him flying off the handle once, kinda unrealistic but I still loved this book! Highly recommend!

3.5 stars

Anything for a Friend by Kathleen M. Willett has a really good premise but seemed to fall short in some areas. I guessed the only real twist before 30% in, so, for me, I was waiting for more to happen that never did. There are a couple distracting inconsistencies, and the ending is unsatisfying. I rate Anything for a Friend 3.5 stars begrudgingly rounded up to 4, because, math 😂

Maria Marquis is a great narrator that helped move things along nicely.
