Publisher's summary

Thirteen years ago, Maggie Ellis left her small town and vowed to never return. In her rearview mirror were two men she loved and an ominous secret that would forever haunt her. Now, tragedy has brought her back, and she’s determined to forget that fateful night. But in a town like Myers, with familiar faces and chilling memories lurking around every corner, moving on is easier said than done.

Before the ink can dry on the closing documents for her new residence, Maggie begins to feel unsettled. In every room, there’s the unmistakable sensation she’s being watched. The strange sounds, odd smells, and bizarre occurrences only add to her paranoia. There’s something sinister about her new home…

When she discovers the devastating truth about the house and its grim history, Maggie’s worst fears are realized. In order to survive, she must unearth the secrets she’d always planned to keep buried. After all, they say that home is where the heart is, but as Maggie knows, home is also where the skeletons lie.

Seamlessly blurring the edges between psychological thriller and romantic suspense, million-copy bestselling author Kiersten Modglin brings us a dark and twisted romantic thriller that's perfect for fans of Verity, Tell Me Lies, The Ghost Writer, and You.

Absolutely Loved It!!

It’s no secret how much I love KM’s books/audios and this one has just taken the coveted top spot! Which is hard because they are all so good but this story had it all! The overall mood throughout was ominous, I was sure a ghost was going to jump out at any moment. We are all guided, persuaded, influenced by people, places, etc that are important to us. So when there is a connection to a tragic event there’s a risk of feeling trapped. The character development was extraordinary and the plot moved seamlessly between past and present to continue to build upon the angst and mystery. The added bonus was the romance, conflict, lives torn apart then slowly pieced together so brilliantly. Figuring it out early was so unimportant due to the explosive twists and revelations! #suspense #murder #lovetriangle #ghosts #lovedthis

Narration by Brittany Pressley is always so good and the emotional range she does in this story is exceptional. She completely captures personality, gender, and tone with ease thru out!!

Not her best.

Disappointed. Very repetitive. "But he's my best friend," theme could have been edited quite a bit to make this believable. The dumb woman main character was just too much for me. Seriously? Not for any woman with half a brain. Save your credit for her better works. It's long, no tension or excitement and you'll know the end half way through.

Obnoxious

I have never rolled my eyes more. Maggie is indecisive and dramatic. My recommendation - skip!

Kiersten delivers once more!!!

I started this book blindly, Narrator did a fabulous job at keeping me engaged with the story. I’m not a whole lot into romance, but this book hits all the right notes, just perfectly. Needless to say I fell in love with Tucker, and I was sometimes annoyed with Maggie for taking him for granted. I was also intrigued by the mystery going on. At the end everything is revealed and all your questions answered. 5/5 stars for this one!

Interesting! Another great read from Kiersten!

I enjoyed this book! The characters were intriguing & it kept me guessing until the end. I had tears streaming down my face at the end.
It was also the perfect length for an audiobook in my opinion.

Bit much

Some twists and turns but a little overdone. Wanted Maggie to get it together and stop waffling. A lot of years of back and forth with these three. More romance than mystery.

Soooooo goood 👻

I just LOVE a good ghost story. And this book does not disappoint. There are so many spooky elements that really enrich this plot and I especially love the amazing character development and twisty bits to the crazy yet believable love triangle all set inside a haunted house. Brittany Pressley is a master narrator whose knack for making her many character voices sound unique is quite amazing. It just doesn’t get better than this. Looking forward to more titles by Kiersten Modglin… a new literary favorite!
