About this listen

Video is Dead

The fading memories Jacob has of his deceased mother are buried on a few VHS home movies. Recently haunted by recurring dreams of her, he sets out to pick up a used VCR, and finds one at a local yard sale. However this is no ordinary VCR. According to the owner, this particular model not only plays movies, but it allows one to communicate with the dead. Fueled by curiosity, Jacob takes it home and soon discovers that what he possesses opens a doorway to darkness, death, and lust.

Energy Drink

Miller is frustrated. Hours at the gym and nothing to show for it. But once a coworker introduces him to RECRüT, a sports energy drink that guarantees results, the gains come quick. It isn't long before Miller attains the godlike physique he's always wanted. Unfortunately, these 12 little ounces come with a side effect - a high price he never expected to pay. And the more RECRüT he drinks, the more his world begins to unravel, uncovering a sinister side of himself he never knew existed.

The Saltwater Marathon

Bryan buries himself at work, opting for late night shifts at the mall, often drinking himself to sleep in the back office of his once beloved job. But everything changes the morning they show up...strangers at his office door...screaming, pleading and begging him to open the door because they're being pursued and desperately need somewhere to hide. As he awakens from his drunken stupor, he begins to wonder if this some sick joke? Bryan wouldn't be sure until he let these strangers in. However once he does, he soon witnesses for himself what has these people so afraid, so panicked, that he finds it impossible to stay caught in his own spiral of self-loathing.

supernaturaly good..

There were several twists in here that I really liked and did not see coming at all which just made for that much more of an interesting read for me. Unfortunately, I started reading this book too near bedtime and yes, while you were having breakfast this morning, I was reading this book. Ugh, I hate when that happens, but not really, that means it was a great read and I just couldn't put it down!!

Left me wanting more, and more

All three stories in the book went by way too quickly! Great stories, from beginning to end. Easy to listen to, kept waiting for the next twist (which seem to keep coming every time,) and all painted very vivid pictures. Can't wait to listen to another Chateau story, in my wish list already!

An original mix of horror and sci-fi

I think it's very difficult to find something good among short stories, or someting good in the horror section. This book is both. And it's also very original, something different from stereotypes that are so common in horror literature.
The endings of the three stories are different from each other and from what you normally expect from that kind of book. More mature than the classic, shocking ones you can find in so many short horror stories from past and present. It was refreshing, and good.
The narrator has the perfect voice for the subject, and I can easily say that listen to it could be an even better experience than reading it.

Short but Good

There are 3 different and good horror stories only complaint I wanted more! My favorite one was when you could see and speak with a deceased loved one and narration pretty good. If you need a break from novels I would recommend this one. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher. Thank you.

Nice collection of three great novellas

The First story was quite interesting. The idea of bringing someone back through there video exploits is worth exploring further. This was my favorite story of the three. well written characters and a fun premise made this worth the price of the book.

The second story I had heard before (i bought the story as an individual short story). It is a fun satire on the effects of vanity and consumption. on the path to getting ripped without the work.

The Saltwater Marathon is a sorrowful and tragic tale of of one man cursed by what many of us experience in day to day life. He is so wrapped up in his work that he no longer pays attention to his wife. when he loses her, he realizes what he had and falls into regret. It takes a little invasion to make him truly see the error of his ways.

The narration was well done and holds your interest.

I requested a free review copy of this audiobook and i am leaving a voluntary and honest review.

Paranormal stories with a twist

Just when you think it's all been down something comes along with a refreshingly different flavor. This set of stories will take you down a path that hasn't necessarily been traveled before. Rather enjoyed the whole vcr communicate with the dead story as well as the others. A 4 on the overall because it has some decidedly adult themes that prevent it from being listened to with children present. Other than that it was a very enjoyable collection that was well narrated with a good depth in carrying out multiple voices. I was voluntarily provided this free review copy audiobook by the author, narrator, or publisher.

Three Creepy Good Analogous Stories

Firstly, I loved the narration by Aaron Shedlock. He had fab voice inflections but what I really liked about his read was that he approached the stories in a trepidatious way as to let the listener know that we don't know what's about to happen next. His performance was outstanding, especially Pedro.

Nightmares in Analog was such a good listen on a few levels. It was somewhat frightening in an odd way. Video is Dead, Energy Drink, and The Saltwater Marathon were interconnected. Video was the steamiest to me. They were so crazy original that I loved them all. My two favorites were Video is Dead and The Saltwater Marathon with the jellyheads. Incredibly original and good.

This was an amazing fun listen and def. recommended.

Awesome stories, I want more. WE ARE ONE

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes I would, all 3 stories were really good

What was one of the most memorable moments of Nightmares in Analog?

Energy Drink was one that I could not wait to finish. I listened to that story in it's entirety I just couldn't stop. Once it ended I was a little sad but the next story was good as well.

Have you listened to any of Aaron Shedlock’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not but now I am a fan. He gets you to really care about the characters, the descriptions of the monsters was uncanny and he gets you involved in the story with its visuals description.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes it was. I was both saddened when it ended but really glad for I was able to get on with my life and go to sleep. Energy Drink as I mentioned before was addicting, no pun intended.
