Publisher's summary

After the death of her husband, Bella Jordan and her son need a fresh start. But on their way to stay with family in Chicago, they stop in Lily Dale, New York, and a storm forces them to spend the night.

Brimming with kooky psychics and mediums, Lily Dale is just the kind of quirky little town Bella's late husband always talked about settling down in. So when the local hotelier, Leona, passes away, Bella agrees to step in and help temporarily. The longer she and Max stay there, the more Lily Dale starts to feel like home.

But for Bella, finding a home means finding danger, too. Leona was murdered, and it's up to Bella to track down the killer before her sanctuary comes crashing down in Staub's warm and witty new series debut.

Loved this story!

I live very close to Lily Dale and it is one of my favorite places to relax and walk with my husband. I really enjoyed being walked around such a loved place in such a different way. The story leaves you guessing the whole time while adding in small tidbits of life in lily dale we locals love so much!

Enjoyable

Charming and enchanting cozy mystery. One thing that nagged at me, the main character, Bella, was so undecided about everything and could be annoying. She was a new widow with a 5-year old son, and had also lost her job so I got passed it. I didn’t dislike her though. Good start to a series and I’ll continue with the others.

Fun fantasy

I nearly turned this one back in since I was expecting a different type of mystery but after a bit I realized that with everything going on in our world something light hearted was in order.

The story was a fun fantasy.

Nine Lives

Cozy mystery with widowed mom, 5-year-old son, quirky characters, felines, hunky vet, oh yeah, and Spirit (or is it spirits because there seems to be more and Spirit is what they call the "ghosts." Bella has lost everything, her husband, her job, her home and now she and Max have packed up their car and are traveling to her mother-in-law's home to stay until she can get on her feet. That is until they find a cat in the middle of the road in a rain storm. When she takes the cat to the vet she finds it is chipped and pregnant and belongs to a woman near by so she decides to drop off Chance The Cat but when she gets there she finds the woman is newly deceased. This starts her stay at Valley View. There is a murderer on the loose and along with the host of colorful characters this was quite a romp. I enjoyed it enough I went on to book two!

Cute mystery with a dash of 'magic'

An Agatha Christie-like mystery. Not gory or terrifying, but just a 'nice' murder mystery mixed with a little mind reading and premonitions.
