There’s something wrong with this family.
Mary Shaw’s the doting mother, showering her children with gifts from the heart and the pocketbook. Wes Shaw’s different than his siblings - darker, awkward, the perpetual ne’er-do-well.
The Shaws have survived divorce and death, but something sinister is in their midst. The truth threatens to tear them apart. The lies threaten to tear them apart.
There’s no neutral ground, no place to hide. Ultimately, each family member must make a choice with irreversible consequences.
Adult language and sexual content.

It's a peek inside the life a sociopath. This book took me on an emotional roller coaster ride! I really like books that pull you into the characters. I felt real sympathy for Wes, one of the main characters of the book. His journey for truth was exciting, heartbreaking, and enlightening.
The author writes true to real life situations and isn't afraid to offend. I appreciate that in a writer, because life is sometimes offensive. I like it to be told how it is.
The narrators are top notch as well!
Another great book Phil!

There is some sexual situation in the beginning of the book but you really need to get past that. This book is well worth reading.
I was a bit disappointed by the ending but only because I wished for a better outcome but I have to agree that the ending is more realistic in real live then the one I would have wished for.
I think Phil Williams does a great job in describing the family members and how they relate to each other. You see Wes slowly becoming the mature adult he should be.
This story will keep you thinking afterwards

The author was very accurate in his portrayal of what having a family member who is a sociopath in the family does to a family. A rift is usually the end result because at some point each member needs to chooses to keep drinking the Kool Aid or their own mental well-being. Because with a sociopath, it’s always about them and giving up the Kool Aid is harder than it looks. I have a sibling it took decades to accept is a sociopath; I can’t imagine the damage having a Sociopath for a mother would cause.
Excellent book; well worth the credit.
Refreshing story line

As for the story itself, I wasn't overly impressed. It did keep me mildly interested, but I found it pretty predictable. On the plus side, at least there were no dangling modifiers. So many authors are guilty of using them and they sound ridiculous. It really makes me wonder if anyone proofreads.
Somewhat predictable
