Publisher's summary

When Julius overthrew his mother and took control of his clan, he thought he was doing right by everyone. But sharing power isn't part of any proper dragon's vocabulary, and with one seat still open on the new ruling council, all of Heartstriker is ready to do whatever it takes to get their claws on it, including killing the Nice Dragon who got them into this mess in the first place.

To keep his clan together and his skin intact, Julius is going to have to find a way to make his bloodthirsty siblings play fair. But there's more going on in Heartstriker Mountain than politics. Every family has its secrets, but the skeletons in Bethesda's closet are dragon sized, and with Algonquin's war looming over them all, breaking his clan wide open might just be the only hope Julius has of saving it.

Love this!

Probably the best book in the series. The second book had an "I had to tell you that story so I could tell you this story" vibe. This book has a lot going on and is very full of feels :-)

Great story and characters

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, and I have. This book is obviously intended for a younger audience, however, it is so well written and performed that I enjoyed it immensely.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The protagonist is a cross between MLK and Ghandi, but with claws teeth and fire breath.

What about Vikas Adam’s performance did you like?

Consistency of characterizations. Great acting. The narrator is the gateway between the written text and imagined story, Mr. Adams is superb!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

yes!

Outstanding like the first and second

Have you listened to any of Vikas Adam’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have only listened to the two first books of these series. I am eagerly waiting for the next book. Both my kid and I enjoy our time listening to this book. It is worth the time and money.

Slower moving than the others in the series

This is the 6th Rachel Aaron book I have read. Usually her stories are swift moving. This one not as much. I, like the Heartstriker Clan, wanted to kill Julius myself at times just to shut him up. I won't abandon the series but hope the next book is more true to form.

another great entry in the series!

Another great entry in the series! Julas and Marcie continue on there stories becoming better then before. it was a little preachy but then again I guess you gotta sound a little like a broken record to get through dragon skulls. Marcies final chapter is a little sad, but i cant wait to read what happens next

I LOVED this book!!

I thought the book was fun. It had a good plot, great characters, and it was very entertaining. I think the narrator did an excellent job!!
It has dragons, strong female characters, a nice message, and lots of witty banter. I have listened to this whole series at least twice, Aaron’s other series that is also set in the DFZ and a few of her other books... but the books in the DFZ (Heartstriker books and Minimum Wage Magic etc.) are some of my new favorites!! 💕
