Publisher's summary

Vintage cookware enthusiast Jaymie Leighton is thrilled at the prospect of meeting an elderly descendant of her town's founding father, not least because she's known to possess an enviably large collection of antique spice graters. But the curmudgeonly woman also has substantial real estate holdings, and at the moment she's engaged in a fierce battle with a property developer who wants her to sell off her old buildings in the name of progress. When Jaymie goes to visit the woman and discovers that there's been an attempt on her life, she polishes up her sleuthing skills to find out who was behind the foul deed.

Her first instinct is to suspect the developer, but as she digs deeper into the case she learns that her older new friend has purportedly been the victim of numerous criminal acts - all of which point to different suspects. Unsure if the stories are true or simply the confused ramblings of a senior citizen, Jaymie sifts through the clues hoping to expose the culprit, but she knows that if she keeps stirring up trouble, she'll be next on the would-be killer's list....

Antique Graters

This series is so much fun. A grumpy old woman, Miss Perry, who is descended from the town's founders, has a unique collection of antique graters. When Jaymie Leighton goes to visit her, she learns that the old woman has had several attempts on her life. At first she thinks it's because a man in town is trying to buy her property for development, but the more she digs, the more she finds that the woman has no shortage of enemies. As usual, Jaymie is busy writing her newspaper articles, helping her sister in her antique shop and recreating vintage recipes. In this installment, Jaymie is preparing for a display at the Queensville Heritage House and presenting some of Miss Perry's antique graters, along with the story of the spice trade. But upon comes to discuss borrowing some of Miss Perry's antique nutmeg graters, she is horrified to find that Miss Perry at the bottom of the staircase near death. Jaymie, once again, has a mystery on her hands. GRATE 😁 story, with all our favorite characters, and a satisfying conclusion, well worth the wait.

5 Stars

This is an entertaining and well written cozy mystery. The characters and plot are well developed. There are several plot twists to keep the story flowing at an even pace. I enjoy this series and look forward to the next story in this series.

Volume

I could not get through this book. My problem was the volume. When switching characters in the book the narration would go from a normal volume to a REALLY LOUD volume. I would then turn down the volume and when the character changed it was hard to hear unless I turned up the volume again. Unbearable

Volume

Volume would go from normal to extremely high, in my opinion, other than that, it was good.
