Publisher's summary

The sun has wiped out nearly all technology in the largest coronal mass ejection in history. In its wake comes the zombie apocalypse. The dead have risen, and they are hungry.

Yet there are greater threats than the walking dead. The deathless have returned, slumbering in the same Arks that carried the werewolves into the present. If they are not stopped they will build a massive necropolis in the remains of San Francisco, and the entire continent will pay the price.

Only the few werewolves created before the apocalypse stand between humanity and annihilation. Yet they are outnumbered and alone. Their only hope comes from the very enemy that sought to stop their creation, Mohn Corp.

I'm Hooked!! Book 3 NOW Please...

If you could sum up No Mere Zombie in three words, what would they be?

AWESOME!!

What was one of the most memorable moments of No Mere Zombie?

Everything...I love Yukon, Liz kicking butt, Trevor breaking free, Blair finally using that brain of his and kicking butt, and EVERYTHING else!

What does Ryan Kennard Burke bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Someone else doing the work? JK. I love the voices...Yuri is great!! The emotion, etc...you just can't beat it and Ryan does a great job.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Gods, Werewolves, and Zombies oh my...not a clue I hate writing reviews, but wanted to support one of my new favorite authors...

Any additional comments?

Yep, definitely a Chris Fox fan...can I have book 3 now please?

Down Zombie! Good boy!

This is an excellent follow up to the first in the Deathless series. I couldn't wait for this to come out, and when I finished, I couldn't believe it was over!

This book picks up where the first left off, and I found myself worried about the plight of the 'good' bad guy. The title says it all, the zombies may be the bad guys, but I found myself so caught up in Trevor's storyline, and rooting for him to somehow snap out of his zombie condition. Of course, that doesn't happen, once a zombie, always a zombie.... right?

Get it, and keep your calendar open because you won't want to put it down.

Another excellent book

Great second book, but as I seated in my review off the first the narrator does it no favours.

There are a couple of places when the author writes about weapons and military hardware that site a lack of knowledge, but I still loved the story.

Get it!

Now I'm hooked!

I Loved this book! l couldn't stop listening. I thoroughly enjoyed the characters as well as how the story is coming together! The first book in the series was good, don't get me wrong, however it left me a little unsure on how the series would play out and if I wanted to stay with it. Again, I liked it but I was a little confused let's say. Well after listening to the prequel & book 2, the author did a great job at tying the story together. Although I strongly recommend Book 1, Book 2, then the prequel. It made more sense in that order for me!

A Very Good Follow Up But...

For me Blair and Liz who are for the most part the main protagonists are the weakest part of this story.

To avoid spoilers I will keep simple but vague.
For Blair his character is very uneven, in some chapters he is scientist-turn-warrior he grew into from the last book while others makes you wonder why he is still alive.
For Liz it's not her character per-say but how the other characters react to her. Without spoiling anything most of her chapters have that "because she is lead female" reasoning.
Why is everyone so willing to take orders from? Because she is the lead female. Why she getting such-and-such? Because she is the lead female.
It all the more aggravating sense in the last book Liz earned everything she received so to have her character so mishandled is a real let down.

This would not be so glaring an issue for me if the rest of the cast was not written SO MUCH BETTER.

Everything from Jordan's slow acceptance of being a werewolf, to Bridget's path of redemption, to Trevor's fight for freedom to The Mother/Isis learning about how much the world has changed. Each one of these has a near prefect execution. Everything from their buildup to their conclusion is done so well it only makes the less than perfect parts all the more glaring.

Characters aside the world build is even better than the previous book. We are given a very rare original take on ZOMBIES!!!!!! ZOMBIES!!!!!! Anyone who is a fan of urban-fantasy has seen zombies. Anyone who is a fan of urban-fantasy knows how cliché zombies have become. So any author who gives us an original take on zombies gets automatic brownie points.
Just like in the last book Mr. Fox gives us a new take on Werewolf. The different powers based on gender gives the characters a nice balance so there is no one character who is (save for The Mother) a broken “all-mighty” character.
The Vampires are also original. Not just their powers but how they gain them. Being a big fan of urban-fantasy I have seen my fair share of Vampires and these are a truly unique.

My only other gripe with the book is how it is leading into the next book.

Without spoiling anything I can only say that the next book feels like it might have the dreaded "to many villains" pitfall that some third-parters get.

Well I did not like it as much as the first one I can still say I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking a new urban-fantasy series.

Awesome!

This narrator totally nails it, just like he did in book 1. It's a little amazing just how many accents he can do convincingly. He truly gives each character their own voice. Not just a different tone, but a little something more, which was nice.

I love this really interesting take on werewolves and zombies and vampires, and how the Egyptian mythos ties into their existence. I'm looking forward to listening to book 3!

Incredible. Can't wait for part 3.

Don't have a whole lot of time for the review but it is well deserved. Simply put, if you enjoyed book one then book two will only be that much better because you are already acquainted with the universe of Deathless.
