About this listen
This definitive biography is the work of two men whose empathy and experience with Jim Morrison uniquely prepared them to recount this modern tragedy: Jerry Hopkins, whose famous Presley biography, Elvis, was inspired by Morrison's suggestion; and Danny Sugerman, confidant of and aide to The Doors. Showing you the Lizard King as you've never seen him before, this classic best seller will take you through to the other side.

Story
As lead singer and songwriter for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis has lived life on the razor's edge. Much has been written about him, but until now we've only had his songs as clues to his experience from the inside. In Scar Tissue, Kiedis proves himself to be as compelling a memoirist as he is a lyricist, giving us a searingly honest account of the life from which his music has evolved.

Included on the recording are several shorter works. The Ainulindalë is a myth of the Creation and in the Valaquenta the nature and powers of each of the gods is described. The Akallabêth recounts the downfall of the great island kingdom of Númenor at the end of the Second Age, and Of the Rings of Power tells of the great events at the end of the Third Age.

People ask me how come I'm still alive, and I don't know what to say. When I was growing up, if you'd have put me up against a wall with the other kids from my street and asked me which one of us was gonna make it to the age of 60, with five kids and four grandkids and houses in Buckinghamshire and California, I wouldn't have put money on me, no f--king way. But here I am: ready to tell my story, in my own words, for the first time. A lot of it ain't gonna be pretty. I've done some bad things in my time. But I ain't the devil.

Story
Bestselling author and legendary Doors drummer John Densmore offers a powerful exploration of the "greed gene"-that part of the human psyche that propels us toward the accumulation of more and more wealth, even at the expense of our principles, friendships, and the well-being of society. This is the gripping account of the legal battle to control The Doors's artistic destiny. In it, Densmore looks at his conflict with his bandmates over the right to use The Doors's name, revealing the ways in which this struggle mirrors and reflects a much larger societal issue.

Few bands are as shrouded in the murky haze of rock mythology as The Doors, and parsing fact from fiction has been a virtually impossible task. But now, after 50 years, The Doors’ notoriously quiet guitarist is finally breaking his silence to set the record straight. Set the Night on Fire is packed with never-before-told stories from The Doors’ most vital years, and offers a fresh perspective on the most infamous moments of the band’s career.

Excellent summary of the best Morrison book
When I read this book 25 years ago it changed my life forever. I immediately became a massive Doors fan and to this day remain so. I was thrilled to find the late Danny Sugerman himself reading this abridgement so I instantly bought it. Danny Sugerman and Doors keyboardist Ray Manzarek are THE ONLY ONES that should be permitted to read a Jim Morrison story since they are both such great tale tellers with unique voices and humour.
Most of the Lizard King's wild and bizarre moments are recounted here, even at the pathetic HEAVILY cut down length of 68 minutes. Unfortunately, most of the details behind the Doors music and albums are not mentioned. That is why this gets only 4 out of 5 stars from me. I wish that this abridged version would've been at least 2 or 3 hours long. This may've been cut so short because Sugerman was in poor health and nearing his own death when he recorded the audio just a few years ago.
Still, for the cheap price of less than $8, do your self a favor and BUY THIS! If you are new to The Doors and Jim's story interests you, buy the whole book at your local store: it's never been out of print in 26 years and counting now.

Amazing
Absolutely loved this. Loved it so much, I listened to it twice in a row. I'm a huge fan of The Doors & I've always found Jim Morrison to be a fascinating individual. The narration by Danny Sugerman set the perfect tone for a book like this. Honesty the only complaint I could possibly have is that it wasn't long enough.

Title
Okay so my girlfriend gave me this book to read because she's a die hard fan. I did enjoy the book but I think Jim is a difficult person to understand. He seems to be someone that is full of emotions and he seems like he can't contain that. Part of me is like "quit being a little b" but part of me also believes that he's just misunderstood. That depression can be such a dark cloud. I did enjoy the narrator very much, but this book did give me a lot of insight on his life. You don't have to be a fan of the band to read this book, it's actually well written and a fun little read.

One of my all time favorites
I read this book back in my high school years. Later to write an essay on The Doors for an English class in college and made a poster for my arts & design class. Wish there was doors songs playing in the background while it is being narrated.

Unabridged Please!!!
Would you consider the audio edition of No One Here Gets Out Alive to be better than the print version?
I loved the story, and the fact that Danny Sugerman was the narrator. I wish so badly that Audible carried the Unabridged version so I could take in the full story that Sugerman intended to tell. As far as teases go, this one was definitely worth my time!!! I highly recommend it to any Doors fan.

Interesting and Predictable Ending
Now I know the story. A short and concise story of a 70’s icon I was curious about. I like that it was told by someone who cared about the person with very little judgement. A child of the 70’s myself I have to say the ending was predictable.

great story
I loved Jim Morrison . when the doors were making that wonderful music it was cutting edge. today it's played in elevators as background. Pam was the cool one. you can hardly get through a day without hearing a doors song even now in 2020
