Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas author Hunter S. Thompson rocked the literary world with his mind-bending style of Gonzo journalism. First published in 1966, Hell’s Angels is Thompson’s up-close and personal look at the infamous motorcycle gang during the time when its moniker was most feared.

Would you listen to Hell's Angels again? Why?

I've heard of Sonny Barger and, ironically, what a good leader he was. Decided to listen to the book to learn more about the lifestyle he led and to see what gave him away as a good leader.

Having just listened to "Fear and Loathing" and having read "Rum Diaries", I expected something different from this book. What I found instead was a straight up journalism piece. Great if you're really interested in the Hell's Angels but terrible if you're looking for Hunter S. Thompson's personal touches. I found it repetitive and somewhat tedious. As for the narration, the narrator seemed to feel he needed to emphasize every sentence with force, which I didn't care for. Overall not a bad book, just not what I was expecting or wanting.

Not what I expected

I’m not anti-media, but it was disappointing to see how, even back in the sixties, truth took a back seat to sensationalism—turning an average bad apple motorcycle club into some mythical gang of outlaws. The behind the scenes info from this book really clarify all the stories I’ve heard over the years about the Angels. I only wish i listened to this book sooner.

Hunter s Thompson's poetic words describing a 60s Americana interrupted but a wild club of the down and out seeking their own slice of the Americana pie.

the performance is okay, but would be read much better in Thompson's unique cadence.

it's a classic

I'd for years misunderstood the Hell's Angels and have recently come to see that things are never what they seem. This was a great look inside a society that's has outcasted itself and branded as dangerous but a closer look will show you something entirely different!

Great book but the audio is real Skippy and it gets irritating but all around good

Terrible audio

Watching the movie Rum Diaries inspired me to listen to this. It was well written and interesting. Most of the subject matter was dated and just not that interesting. The last few chapters were the best. The narrator did a bang up job.

Kinda Gonzo

would of been better if the performance was done in a Hunter S. Thompson dialect. I live in Northern California and have heard storys of the Angles from my Folks (grew up in the bay), so the cities and highways runs really gave me great visuals in my head. Hunter's outlandishly deccriptions is very entertaining

Evwn more entertaining if you live in Nor Cal
