About this listen

Jodi Taylor’s best-selling series The Chronicles of St Mary is back with a bang….

St. Mary’s has been rebuilt ,and it’s business as usual for the history department. But first there’s the little matter of a 17th-century ghost that only Mr. Markham can see. Not to mention the minor inconvenience of being trapped in the Great Fire of London…and an unfortunately timed comfort break at Thermopylae, leaving the fate of the Western world hanging in the balance.

Rejoin Max’s madcap journey through time in Jodi Taylor’s fifth interdimensional instalment No Time Like the Past.

Jodi Taylor, International Woman of Mystery, spent some time working undercover for North Yorkshire County Library Service. Heavily disguised as the world's most incompetent facilities manager, she shifted dead dogs, fell out of mobile libraries, and spent far too much time in the gents' toilets.

The idea to rewrite history first came to her while studying history A level at an evening class. Just One Damned Thing After Another is her first novel and was originally self-published as an e-book; it was downloaded by more than 60,000 readers on Amazon.

Max has finally come full circle...

There was so much in this installment, I had to listen twice to get it all!
I always learn something new about history...didn’t know where “the bonfire of the vanities” title came from. Such a shame that so much history was lost for no good reason!
Even though Leon wasn’t in this volume as much as Max, they came together nicely in the end. Ms. Taylor is a talented writer, managing to intertwine history and adventure smoothly, yet with the usual plot bumps. Another very satisfying installment, in which Max comes full circle. Downloading the next book now. Please write more, Ms. Taylor. I don’t want the adventures to end!!

Back on track

After some of the odd developments of the last 2 books, this is more a straightforward St Mary's series of crises at various times in the past. Because of the way the author changed the series, some old characters have returned, which is nice. The narration is excellent as always

Addictive storytelling

For anyone that needs a warmhearted, fast-paced, and humorous adventure series!

When ever I'm in a bind, I ask myself what would Maxwell do? Then I do the opposite. Seriously, I recommend this series for many reasons but the fact that it is truly an adventure is my biggest draw to it, Time and Again.

Still Great, But...

Still a great installment in a great series, but the overall impact was lacking for me due to one main issue... There was a giant development in the last book affecting the timeline AND a change in dimension. That’s a big deal, right? But, somehow, it was barely referenced. Among countless opportunities, I can think of one only comment that was mentioned that (vaguely) implied the whole point of the last book even happened. Maybe I missed an installment or side comment somewhere addressing it all, but based on my first listen, I was so distracted by the elephant on the timeline that I had a hard time getting as invested as I have in other books in the series.

HOWEVER, it’s still St. Mary’s, I still love it, and I’m still excited to carry on!

Love this series!!

No drop off in quality, craziness or history in this novel. A little more back story and a few resolutions.

Scary and Wonderful

What did you love best about No Time Like the Past?

I felt that the action and of course the villeins were what made this one of the most interesting so far. The different times they go to and the really scary things that happen every time to Max. I felt the best was Thermopylae

Which scene was your favorite?

Max of course

Any additional comments?

I loved all the characters, they are very touching and you can't help but care about them. The villeins are really vile. I don't know if there will be any more in this series. If there are I know I'll most likely get.

Never disappointed!

I love this series! The humor is as good or better than the storyline. The author knows her audience and the narrator is fantastic!

Absolutely fabulous

I have loved this series from the first. It is adventurous, suspenseful and charming. Maxwell will make you shake your head and Malcolm and Peterson will make you hold your breath. If you like history with a lot of British humor than you would love this.
