Deputy Taylor Gray is called upon to investigate the sudden disappearance of a beloved young man.
With time running out, she races against the clock to uncover the truth and bring him home safely.
Meanwhile, Lucy Gray is determined to start anew, build a stable life for her son, and prove that she's not defined by her past. As she sets out on a path of self-discovery, she realizes that the journey isn't as straightforward as she thought it would be.
Nobody Told Me is book six of the Hart's Ridge small-town mystery series, written by Kay Bratt. As the mystery unfolds, listeners will be drawn into the tight-knit community of Hart's Ridge, where even the most seemingly perfect towns have their secrets. With Bratt's signature style of masterful storytelling, Nobody Told Me is a gripping tale of suspense and intrigue that will keep listeners on the edge of their seats until the very end.

There were several stories going on simultaneously, all of them engrossing, full of twists and turns. As I have with the five previous books, I finished this book all in one day. I’ve been using this series as company as I work my way through some big chores I really haven’t wanted to do and have been procrastinating in starting. Listening to these books while working makes getting through these chores so much more pleasant — I found myself almost looking forward to starting knowing I have a great book waiting to distract me!😋
This story focused quite a bit on Lucy. For some reason, not only does trouble seem to find her, but trouble from her past seems to catch up with her all the time too. Her problems affect everyone in the family (especially her sister Deputy Taylor Gray) and leaves the no-kill dog shelter the whole family runs together shorthanded.
Lucy’s troubles from her past and present are catching up to her and are putting her in a bad place mentally. Lucy is struggling with a big, deep dark depression. Lucy is irrationally angry at her sister Taylor. Lucy has tried to figure out WHY she’s so angry at Taylor and why she’s so down on herself, but she just can’t make sense of any of her feelings. She finds herself doing all she can to distance herself from Taylor just when she needs her the most.
Lucy’s one joy in life is the terrified little dog she rescues from a hunter who keeps the dog chained up in a kennel. It’s not long before Lucy realizes the little dog has rescued her too and has given her a lifeline to hang onto and use as a way to climb out of her deep depression.
The narrator in this series has been the same since book One. She drove me CRAZY in Book One because 50% of all her sentences were spoken as questions despite the fact that they were statements. Her voice would also go up right in the middle of statements for no reason.
I almost didn’t make it through the first book because of this, but I’m glad I stuck with it, because each book has been terrific. The narrator seems to get better with each book as well. The over-exaggerated fake southern accent (which I can’t STAND) is thankfully becoming less noticeable. In fairness, the narrator DOES have a lovely sounding voice. I am excited about finding out what is waiting in the next book of this series.😊
OUT OF FIVE, THIS ONE IS MY FAVORITE SO FAR!
