Publisher's summary

I knew exactly what I wanted out of my senior year.

A full ride to Northwestern University. The title of American high school journalist of the year. And a kiss, not just any kiss, but one from the boy I've been in love with since the sixth grade.

By October, my plan was fully in motion with liplock by Christmas imminent. Imminent, that was, until Andie Mercantile moved to Marlowe Junction, swooping both my beat and my man.

Now, I'm stuck writing the sports column - a subject I know nothing about. My goals aren't unobtainable, but they will take a lot more work. Just because a sports writer has never won journalist of the year before, doesn't mean it can't be done. And as for the kissing part, I'm not counting myself out just yet.

After all, maybe learning a bit about competition is just what I need.

Off Center is the second book in the Varsity Girlfriends series.

Cute

The story started out pretty superficial with immature characters, but near the end something is revealed and all that changed. It helped me see depth to the main character and the wrongs that had occurred were righted. It’s a clean read with a couple of mild swear words.

veil lifted

A great coming of age, sweet romance read / listen. I love how the main character Lane is so true to form as a HS teen. The emotions that run the lives of teen girls and the changes in relationships with friends and crushes that always seem to happen during this time in every girls life are displayed perfectly in this book. I love that this read / listen brought out laughter and tears. Lane's rose colored glasses get taken off and the veil of her infatuation is lifted - but that's not the only thing Lane is dealing with...will she be able to survive her senior year in tact and able to check off her goals?

this book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

OMG happy tears!

This book was so well written! The storyline flowed so well. I truly enjoyed everything about this book. It definitely left me wanting more stories about these two MC. I will have a book hangover due to Lane and Hunter. The Audible was super enjoyable to listen to also. I highly recommend this book.

Cute and Fun

I thought this was so cute. Lane is an inspiring journalist with a major crush on the editor of her school newspaper. She’s made the sports editor, desire being rather unqualified to cover sports. Mackee takes her under his wing, offering help and teaching her what she needs to know. I adored how their relationship grew and changed, it was an authentic bond they shared. There was more depth to the story than I expected.

Rachel Music’s narration was fantastic. She delivered the youthfulness of the story.

Cute

Cute story, even if parts of the plot were unrealistic.

I was annoyed by the couple of swear words that were definitely unnecessary. They didn't add anything to the story, but did make it to where now I can't recommend this story to my daughter.

The narrator did the good job.

Great Read

Off Center: Varsity Girlfriends, Book Two was a great read by M.F. Lorson. Lane knew exactly what she wanted during her senior year of high school. She wanted to get a full ride to Northwestern University, she wanted to be named the American high school journalist of the year, and a kiss from the boy she's loved since sixth grade. She finds herself stuck writing the sports column even though she knows nothing about sports. Mackee is a basketball player who takes Lane under his wing to teach her about basketball. I loved reading this book and can't wait to read more by M.F. Lorson. Rachel Music does a great job of narrating the characters so that you fall in love with them.

So good!

I'm not a big high school romance fan but this book is one that I will listen to multiple times! Not once did I find myself rolling my eyes at something completely ridiculous. The narrator did a great job with the voices. Some high school romance books I've listened to the narrator's voice is super whiny but this narrator does not do that.

Interesting high school romance

Loved the heroine and how she was not perfect. Rachel's voice was plesant. There is enough going on in the background story lines to keep everything on track and not boring.
