Publisher's summary

Thomas O'Leary is used to being seen as "bad news". The O'Leary family doesn't have a great reputation around these parts, and by all accounts Thomas is just like them - a little rebellious, a little roguish, and a lot of trouble. No one would know that underneath that frank exterior is a devoted, faithful man with a heart of gold.

Michael Taggart may have grown up with a silver spoon, but that doesn't mean he doesn't work hard and play harder. He just has one big weakness - the need to please his family and deal with the wreckage of their outstanding drama, a pressure that's already caused him to turn away from his chance at love once before.

The Taggarts and the O'Learys have been feuding longer than anyone can remember, both families laying claim to the same stretch of land. Two families. Two men. And one legacy of scorching passion. Can these two supposed enemies move past the spark of aggression to break the feud, discover their second chance at love, and find their own happily ever after?

Carter’s Crossing is a quaint little town nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where some people go to get away, others arrive to start over, and plenty just find themselves when they’re lost or broken hearted. This contemporary mpreg series is for adults only and is sure to leave you believing in the magic of true love and happily ever afters!

Interesting

A slow start but once you stayed with it, it was engaging enough to make you want to see how it ended.

What Would You Do If You Met a Ghost?

Voice Actor Robin Woodson has a very pleasant voice to listen to. His characters are easy to differentiate, and the story flows smoothly.

Carter's Crossing is a charming little town where most everyone gets along with their neighbors. Back when the town was formed, two families fought violently over land rights. Throughout the decades, sons of the opposing families put aside differences, and fell in love. Life was not easy for these brave couples, and sometimes their lives together were short. Now, in the modern day world, two sons fall in love, and their families are still bickering and using illegal tactics to claim the land.

Can these two lovers break the cycle of anger and mistrust between their families? Will they heed the advice and wisdom of the two old strangers that no one seems to know? Can either of them trust in help from beyond the grave?

It's a love story, and a mystery, and a wish for togetherness. And, a blessing.

What a phenomal addition to this series of books!

I wish I knew where to begin, right from the beginning you will be sucked into this dramatic book! Mr. Bates has written a riveting story of deceit, intrigue and two men; Thomas & Michael who are so much in love with each other they tear up the pages! The generations of family feuding over a parcel of land has caused so much strain on both family's. You have one guys mom insisting he find the paper work to prove that this strip of land is theirs and then you have the other man's daddy forcing him to also search for the paper work to prove that the land belongs to them. The court shenanigans is something else and causes even more angst between the two men. I felt so sorry for them at times. And then the surprise for one of these men will it tear these family's apart for good and will the other man come to his senses and stand by his man now that he needs him the most? You will have to read or listen to the book to find out. For this listener; Mr. Woodson's narration was so descriptive and his ability to use his fluctuation to add more characterization to the different scenarios was spot on and added so more enjoyment for this listener. I will be adding this series of books to the top of my re-read list for sure! An avid reader/listener in Rock Tavern, NY.

Learning to love yourself

Family feuds involve people born long after they begin. Carter’s Crossing is a place of heritage. The history of the O’Leary family and the Taggart family has certainly been a contentious one. As young men, Thomas and Michael are drawn to each other. Michael cannot oppose his family’s wishes and their romance comes to a halt. Their love prevails and they come back to each other. Both men must find their inner determination. They must pull together and ignore the opposition of their families. Thomas and Michael have been meeting in secret for awhile. Things might have remained static , if not for an unplanned pregnancy. Michael needs to step up and be the man Thomas knows he can be. Return to Carter’s Crossing and see if the magic will work once again. Robin Woodson, thanks for the great narration. Aiden, another wonderful story. Thanks!

Can love survive a long running family feud?

Thomas O'leary and Michael Taggart were high school boyfriends. They planned to run away from their family but Michael left Thomas waiting all night. Michael and Thomas meet up to look for documents relating to the disputed lands the Taggarts and O'learys are fighting over. Along with research of documents Thomas digs into the various tales of how Carter's Crossing came to be. Can the story of the past repeat itself? I have greatly enjoyed the Carter's Crossing series. This one may have been the best of all. Loved them all!

Best story of the series

I like everything about this book, the story, the performance, the main Characters. I like that a number of the characters from other books showed in this story also. This audio book was a win-win all around.

I liked the mystery a lot more than the romance :P

Seriously, I loved how Thomas was so invested in finding the real story of Carter's Crossing :P And yes, it might be for the lawsuit at first, but I think he got so involved on it that soon, he only wanted to know what the real story was. And the little bits of ghostly help? Great!

But the romance? In all honesty, I think Thomas deserves a better man than Michael. I simply don't like spinless, coward mama-boys who can't stand by themselves if their life depends on it.

And... didn't these two have a job in previous books?

Anyway, the story is interesting and entertaining, and I enjoyed it.

And Robin Woodson did a really good job with the narration.

2nd chance frenemies?

Oh this has all my favorite things, a secret romance that turns out to be a 2nd chance and a little family feuding. The family feud mystery is just enough to keep you interested and the story line is sweet with a fun little twist. Woodson does a good job with the narration making this a quick and fun listen .
