About this listen

A cocky, green pilot flies an old Cessna 150 across the United States in 1994. The "Kid" and his gonzo passenger Doc take to the skies in an unforgettable misadventure. From Scottsdale Airport, the "Canary" takes off and attempts to cross the "hump" on its passage eastward.

I enjoyed this short little audiobook, & am happy to say that it wasn't boring. It's a story of buying a used airplane & flying it home. For those of us who cannot afford to do that in reality, a book or audiobook about the experience is the next best thing. For less than 5 bucks for the audiobook, you can't go wrong. There was no shortage of drama, mostly from the unreasonable passenger that the pilot brought along. A passenger who smoked at the airport, barfed in the plane, nearly wrecked the loaner car, & weighed the plane down so much that it could barely get off the ground. But the pilot made it home safely anyway! You go, man!

Wow! What a daredevil!

Merchant of Death is similar. Sometimes you just have to jump in with both feet and go for broke.

Doc smoking a joint on the tarmac.

It would have busted my give a damn if it were still functioning.

His give-a-damn is malfunctioning.

Although it was a quite a short book, I really enjoyed it - it is a good story.

Pilots of Cessna 150s will get an extra bit of laughs out of it - I guess all the front wheels of early 150s shimmy.

A great whimsy book for pilots and non-pilots

Fun and quick, nothing groundbreaking. Sorta like Norman Rockwell of the 1990s. Good traveling story.
